I like the external drive, but it has problems with Time Capsule. The disc is prepared best I know for backup. However, after one complete backup Time Capsule is unable to do serial backups. This jams my computer since considerable CPU time is spent trying to accomplish the task. Advice appreciated.

The 4 TB external hard drives (I purchased two) work well. Performance is as expected. One note - the unit does not have an indicator light to indicate that the unit is on. The previous generation (2 TB) did have a light. This does not cause problems for me, but may be important to some.

I just purchased the 4TB external and looking forward to using it has plenty of space for my photos of family and any thing else I might want to save instead of loading up my computers hard drive.

Bought this as our other My Book 2TB was close to being full of videos at our ministry. This new one should be good for another few years. We do have many other back-up drives. The company has good success with WD My Book drives. They been buying since 2004.

This drive has served me well. I've not had it fail once unlike Seagate drives. Would definitely rely on WD drives. My recommendation would be to buy the protection plan for a few bucks more: it allows you to get a new drive should anything happen to your drive.

I bought this on sale to use with my Xbox One X and it works great. Has a lot of storage and there is no wait time to load games from this external device versus straight from my Xbox. Now I can unplug it and plug it into any Xbox one and I have all my games and data.

This is a great hard drive. It’s pretty fast and I have not had any issues with reliability. I use it on a Mac. Western digital has been consistent in quality for over a decade in my home now.

Easy install. Quite and dependable. This is my second purchase of WD Wardrives over the last 10+ years for a 2nd computer. They perform with out any problems.

I had an older 1TB My Book External hard drive and needed to update. This has proven to be a great replacement with no issues or problems since adding it to my iMac computer.

I had an external drive fail and thought I had lost files and photos. Fortunately they were recovered and I bought this to backup those files. It was easy to set up and has plenty of storage for all my files and lots of photos.

Using this for a PS4 external storage and coming from a WD 2TB portable HDD which ran out of space! Awesome BF deal and reward points to go! I can't argue w/ that! Just plug/play and let the PS4 do the rest.

This piece of equipment does just what it is supposed to do. The color and size are just what I wanted. It was easy to set up and does not take up too much space. I would it recommend to anyone that needs this device. You will not be disappointed in any way.

Works just as you would expect. I thumb my nose at WD software, of course. HOWEVER.... If your Mac is on OS 10.13.x, do NOT erase the volume on your new MyBook with Disk Utility. It will erase, awright. But it will not create a new volume, or recognize the drive as available storage space. Whoops! I had to boot into 10.11.6 to correct my error. YMMV.

Plugs in the wall so it doesn't need your device to power it. What I needed for my wiiU since zeldas take up all the storage of the NAND. It has way more storage then I needed though but they don't make external drives anymore.

Found this on Sale and couldn't be happier. Backup speeds are extremely fast even for the 2011 Mac mini I was using it for to back-up. Out of the box it was not formatted for time machine capability. But overall is well worth the sale price paid!

This is pretty basic, 4 TB of data is great. I probably should have read more into it but I don't think the software is supported on Sierra for Macs. I looked for a new driver online but there wasn't one. I'm lazy so I just gave up and formatted it. I missed out on some of the perks, but I really just needed something to store a ton of stuff on for cheap.

I own several WD My Book external HDD's. Haven't had an issue with any of them. The only thing I would have liked would have been Best Buy offering the color options for the 4TB WD My Book. Besides that, which isn't really an issue at all, it's the best you can get for the price.

I bought this for Time Machine backups on my Mac and it performs great. It has a fast USB3 interface and lots of room. I replaced an old WD 2TB drive with this and could not expect more from the drive. As stated, lots of space and the price was great too.

I was using a Seagate external HD that kept crashing and finally refused to work with windows 10. This HD works fine, faster rate of transferring data, and will be my new primary backup. Western Digital HD is the top of the line, I highly recommend.
