Customers consistently note the excellent convection cooking and ease of use of this over-the-range microwave. Many appreciate its quiet operation, attractive design, and the helpful sensor cooking feature. However, some users mention concerns about the sturdiness of the door and find the control panel somewhat challenging to navigate. The microwave's weight and the keypad's functionality are also mentioned as areas needing improvement.

The door assembly separates, pops the breaker.

The door assembly has separated and plastic pieces fall out. The display gives error messages, buttons don’t work, and it pops the breaker. I’ve found where many others have reported the same problem, and Whirlpool has told me they are aware of the problem as it has been reported by many other people. Please see the video I’ve posted to YouTube about the problem.

Loving it so far! Convection oven increases versatility and prevents heating house up on a hot day ! Very accurate presets for potatoes and popcorn . Also quieter than others I have had . Would reccomend.

Our other microwave took a crap after 10 years and after calling around we would have spent more money paying for someone to figure out what was wrong, have to order parts and then pay labor so we decided to just get a new one. This one had higher cfms than our last vent hood so that was a plus. I liked the fact that the display does not appear until you touch it and that there is not handle to open microwave sticking out. The microwave fit into the space seamlessly and my husband was able to use same mounting brackets, etc. with a bit of adjustment. This microwave is quieter than my 10 y.o. one and so far I really like it. We only use it to reheat items, not so much for cooking, but this came with a convection oven option. For the holidays I think this will be good to have with all of the dishes being prepared.

I am really enjoying out new over the stove oven. I love the design and it works really well. I ready a couple of reviews about having issues with the door but I have not encountered that problem. It's easy to use and I have to connected it to my cell phone through the app. I don't have to sit and wait for it to finish, I can walk away and will receive a notification when it's done!

Problems with Whirlpool Appliances

After 15 years of regular usage the appliances in our home have been nearing the end of their life-cycle. In November of 2017 our builder grade microwave oven hood stopped working and put us in the market to purchase, what we thought would be new and improved kitchen appliances. We started with purchasing a whirlpool microwave with the matching stove, we were so excited at the time. The next year we purchased the dishwasher and had all intentions of obtaining the matching refrigerator to complete the set, this was before all the issues began. We had to call a repairman out within the first year of owning the stove because deep scratches appeared on the glass cook top. Was told by the tech that whirlpool would not cover the repair of the surface regardless of being under warranty and left us a hefty estimate if we wanted it fixed. He looked at the bottom of our pots and pans, which were fairly new to place the blame. Had no issues with the glass scratching with the cooktop that we had for 13 years. Was told they don't make them like they use to. Recently the microwave that we purchased has begun to have issues and stops operating or continuously makes error sounds. An error displays that says there is an issue with the keyboard. I was cooking dinner a couple days ago and plastic pieces fell from the microwave into the food. Now I'm concerned that we are going to have issues with the dishwasher next, it is approaching the 1 year warranty expiration period. Our intent was to buy name brand, reliable, quality and innovated appliances that would at least match the lifespan of the builder grade appliances that we have replaced in our home. Beautiful appliances with major issues. At this point I will not purchase another or recommend to anyone a whirlpool appliance.

Love the microwave. We purchased this unit because of the combination convection cook features and the multi speed powerful exhaust fan and have been very pleased thus far.
My only complaint is that I have not been able to connect the unit to WIFI ....I followed the instructions to the letter and keep getting an error message. (I am a very tech savvy person)
Looks like a call to support is needed but they are only available 9-5pm weekdays when I am working

Call me ambitious, but the very first thing I made in this is a whole 14 lb turkey using convective work 30% microwave. It literally took less than 2 hrs. I say that because I was I the middle is something and didn't take it out until 2:05 min. Was golden brown, but a tad bit dry. But, all in all was impressed. Never have used a convective oven before. So far, glad I got this one. Looks terrific in my kitchen!

Runs very quiet. Very versatile. Love multi light level, multi-speed fan. People complained about fan noise, hi speed is loud yes, but slower speeds much quieter - I like having that choice. Love the convection mode too.
If there was anything I’d change is that when you touch the menu so it lights up, that the numbers would also light. Yes, have to turn on lights or use flashlight to see #’s.
Still - excellent unit.

Best Microwave Alternative

Our family does not use microwaves and had been looking for an alternative for the microwave above our stove. When our stove died we ended up getting all new appliances at the same time to match. While this still has a microwave in it, it’s also a tiny oven! We wish the Whirlpool website had more instructions and help to understand using it as an oven versus a microwave because items, like tin foil for example, that you can use in the oven setting will have disastrous consequences if used in the microwave setting. We are still figuring it out, but when we’ve used it as an oven it’s been a fantastic addition to our kitchen appliances!

We opted for the convection function so that we have extra “oven” space if needed. Otherwise we would have gotten just a plain microwave. The convection function works great for half batches of scones and for small pizzas. The microwave function is very effective. We generally like the controls and the fact that some are “invisible” when the backlit screen is dark. Aesthetically, the microwave is quite nice with clean lines. I like that there is not a “stick out” handle, and there’s is no push-button to break. That said, the actual oven sticks out a little more than the one it replaced. It is large, but the clean lines help make it less visually overwhelming than it might otherwise be. Because we have only used this for about 3 weeks, I can’t speak to its durability beyond 3 weeks....I would probably rate the quality “excellent “ if I were to get 10 years out of it like past microwave. Won’t know about that kind of longevity for a while, so I’ll leave it at good because it works well and seems substantial.

Have had this for about a month now. Unit was very easy to install and works great. Connectivity could be better as you have to put the microwave in a special mode to connect to Alexa and that mode ends and must be re initiated after the door is opened. Other than that we love this microwave. Looks great and works even better. Even cooking and great power.

The sensor mode works very well. Everything the else works as good or better than we expected.
The only negative might be the door...being full width, it takes more space to open it up. Our kitchen is not large but it's not small either, so once we got used to it, it's ok. Might be an annoyance in a confined kitchen.
