    After year and a half door broke with plastic pieces falling off of inside of the door. We can not use the Microwave since keypad errors out now and Microwave is sensing that door is open even when it is closed. Whrilpool was adamant about sending a service man for just diagnosis, which most definitely cost half the price of new door for just looking at it. Door itself is half the price of the microwave (you do the math). I am baffled by the cheap parts used in this product and whirlpool is not standing behind there product. It only came with 1 year limited manufacture warranty and I guess microwave is useless after little over an year. I advice everyone to either get extended warranty from Best buy for this product or stay away from Whirlpool.

    I can understand why this microwave gets good reviews because the features are great but after only 2 yrs the plastic started to deteriorate and left the panel door vulnerable to moisture from cooking to enter the control panel which caused it to malfunction. We had a repair person out that said we had to replace the door which was almost as much as we paid for the it. Best Buy would not stand by this product because we didn't purchase the extended warranty so decided to purchase a whole new one that will not match the stove but won't pay for a product that doesn't last longer than 2 yrs!

    The door assembly separates, pops the breaker.

    The door assembly has separated and plastic pieces fall out. The display gives error messages, buttons don’t work, and it pops the breaker. I’ve found where many others have reported the same problem, and Whirlpool has told me they are aware of the problem as it has been reported by many other people.     Problems with Whirlpool Appliances

    After 15 years of regular usage the appliances in our home have been nearing the end of their life-cycle. In November of 2017 our builder grade microwave oven hood stopped working and put us in the market to purchase, what we thought would be new and improved kitchen appliances. We started with purchasing a whirlpool microwave with the matching stove, we were so excited at the time. The next year we purchased the dishwasher and had all intentions of obtaining the matching refrigerator to complete the set, this was before all the issues began. We had to call a repairman out within the first year of owning the stove because deep scratches appeared on the glass cook top. Was told by the tech that whirlpool would not cover the repair of the surface regardless of being under warranty and left us a hefty estimate if we wanted it fixed. He looked at the bottom of our pots and pans, which were fairly new to place the blame. Had no issues with the glass scratching with the cooktop that we had for 13 years. Was told they don't make them like they use to. Recently the microwave that we purchased has begun to have issues and stops operating or continuously makes error sounds. An error displays that says there is an issue with the keyboard. I was cooking dinner a couple days ago and plastic pieces fell from the microwave into the food. Now I'm concerned that we are going to have issues with the dishwasher next, it is approaching the 1 year warranty expiration period. Our intent was to buy name brand, reliable, quality and innovated appliances that would at least match the lifespan of the builder grade appliances that we have replaced in our home. Beautiful appliances with major issues. At this point I will not purchase another or recommend to anyone a whirlpool appliance.

    Major electrical issues

    We have had this for just over a year and have had a few weird glitches with not being able to start the microwave because it keeps telling us to close the door, but it’s already closed. We have to unplug it, reset the clock, and then cook... hopefully. Today it indicated that the light was off after pushing the button, but the light didn’t actually change settings. The fan was also on high (I turned it on while cooking), nothing was baking or cooking below, and when I pressed the button to turn it off, it wouldn’t turn off or go to a lower setting. We are just passed our 1 year warranty so there’s nothing we can do. I’m not happy as this is an expensive microwave, and we’re stuck with it. Our last GE microwave lasted 15 years without a single issue until my daughter forgot her spoon in her oatmeal bowl! I pray that there’s a recall soon so I don’t have to worry about a fire or electrical shortage.

    Barely 2 years old and door broke !

    The door broke after only 2 years !!!!! Whirlpool is going to have a lot of trouble soon, if they do not fix this design flaw. The plastic door just starts to fall apart making the microwave stop working, starts beeping uncontrollably......what a nightmare. There is a rude surprise waiting for all the owners of this microwave , as it suddenly fails in the first 2 years of usage !!!!

    Same Door Issue, Product Design Flaw, Don't Buy

    Extreme disappointment. I too have experienced the same issue with the door and product as all the other 1-star reviews. I contacted Whirlpool has they suggested in the other 1-star reviews and they do nothing to support this issue or standby the product - they also stated I would need to pay a diagnostic fee, visit fee and parts fee to address the issue. If I can help other customers it is to suggest you read these 1 star reviews and do not purchase the product. Whirlpool, if you plan to respond to this 1 star review, it should not be to simply contact you. It should how you plan to standby your product and fix the issue free of charge. Its clearly a product design failure.

    Works ok but the lower exterior plastic trim started cracking after 1 years use. No abuse, just poor quality. Looks like that merger with Maytag has brought them down to that level.

    This Microwave has a fatal flaw. The heat & moisture from the stove rises up into the door and damages the main board. After buying this 2 years ago, I'm now paying for a $300 replacement door, with a near-guarantee I'll have to replace it again or get a new microwave in a couple years.

    Falling apart after 3 years.

    Bought in March of 2018. Overall it has been a great unit until today. Door is falling apart from the inside, bits of plastic falling to the floor. Door hasn’t been closing tightly. Unit not operating. Out of warranty. Go figure. Will try and reach out to whirlpool but not holding my breath there. Spent close to $500 for less than 3 years of operation.

    Microwave lasted 368 days before throwing undocumented error codes. I now have to cycle power on the unit to reset about 4 times a week .

    i was very happy until about 3-4 months ago when the door started coming apart. I wouldn't expect a nearly 2 year old Microwave to have these issues. unfortunately this is longer under warranty but i would shy away from future purchases

    Who designed this piece of crap? Backlit just for some controls, but not the most used ones! Imposible to use in a dark kitchen, you have to turn the kitchen's lights first.

    Great features EXCEPT, for some reason, part the face is not backlit until you press a key. If I'm trying to turn on the light, that means the room may be dark. The button for the light should glow or be backlit. Oh, and the entire thing is dead just shy of 10 months of using. I'll update my review pending how this is handled.

    Poor quality. Exhaust 5 stopped working day 1 started working again then stopped again 2 weeks later. Waiting on a replacement which won’t arrive for several weeks. Cannot use range without an exhaust fan.
