Customers are satisfied with the video quality, ease of installation, and night vision capabilities of the Video Doorbell Wired. Many also appreciate its ease of use and compact size. However, some users experienced challenges with the QR code during setup, and others noted concerns about the device's reliance on a wired power connection. The included chime was generally well-received.

Well Made Doorbell Cam - Solid Entry Level Option

If been using the Wyze Video Doorbell+Chime for about a week now, and so far I feel like I’ve gotten a good idea of how it works. I have been a Wyze user for about 3 years, so I am familiar with their app layout and sort of what to expect from their products. This video doorbell has been on the market for about 1.5 years, so it should be pretty mature from a firmware/support standpoint.
One of the things I like about Wyze is their focus on making their products easy to set up and use while keeping that entry level price point. The doorbell is no different. The app walked me through every installation step, and it was incredibly easy to follow. I had a 24V hardwired doorbell mounted to my siding already in place. I killed power to it, pulled the old one off, added the jumpers to my chime transformer, and installed the new doorbell. I used the included horizontal wedge to get a better view of my front door. Overall, it took about 25min to install it. Once installed I connected it to the app, and I had it hooked up to my WiFi in about 2 minutes. The only issue I ran into came up while pairing the included chime with the doorbell. It said a problem came up, but it still said it completed the pairing. This wasn’t the case, so I had to go into the device settings, hit the accessories tab, select the chime and delete it. I went back through and readded it without any issues this time.
The doorbell comes with basic motion alerts and 12s recording clips without a subscription. You can opt into a subscription at any time. There are 2 tiers – CamPlus Lite and CamPlus. Cam Plus Lite gives you person detection, but you would need to upgrade to CamPlus for package detection, back-to-back, recordings and other features. I have only used the basic plan on my indoor cameras because I didn’t need anything more, but I am considering trying out a subscription to get person and maybe package detection.
The doorbell as an entry level option that has a decent set of features out of the box. It records in HD (1080p) at 20fps and has a somewhat narrow 120° field of view. I thought the image quality during daytime looked decent, but shadows make it a little muddled for things at a distance. That makes sense I guess because its meant to show me up things going on in the immediate area around my front door.
Nighttime video looks pretty good as well – I have no issue distinguishing faces and features at night. Nighttime FPS drops from 20 to 15, so video look a little choppier but still just fine. This brings round a great feature that I like – the light on the front of the doorbell. This acts like a little nightlight when I approach my door, and it helps with the nighttime picture quality immensely. The little light is also super helpful when looking for your keys or doing anything in front of the door at night. I avoid turning my porchlight on during summer because of the bugs, so I am often opening the door in pitch black. This little light changes things for sure.
Accessing the camera is done through the app, and it works well. I also have a Google Hub, but due to the 4:3 orientation it won’t display the video which kind of stinks. My other Wyze cameras display just fine though. Accessing the stream on my phone takes just a few seconds to startup before you can see the live view. Viewing a recorded event takes about the same amount of time to get connected, but you can quickly skip around to different events once a connection is made. If you use motion alerts there’s only a couple seconds before your phone gets pinged. You can define your alert area by selecting a zone for the camera to watch for movement in.
When a person rings the bell the delay is about the same as the motion alert delay. You get a notification that someone is calling from the doorbell and you can answer it – its about 7-10 seconds from the button being pushed to being able to talk. There is about a 1.5 second delay for speech relay – not perfect but similar to other cameras I have used. There is also the option to send a programmed response if you are unable to talk right away.
The included chime works great. You can make it ear splitting loud or tone it way down to just notify a small area. There are 19 different tones to choose from that include classic doorbell sounds, and other more musical or futuristic sounds. You do need to be close by the chime to connect to it and make your changes. There are 8 volume levels – I have mine set on 4 and it already louder than my original bell chime.
The only real issue I have ran into is with the motion alerts. Since I have the basic plan running my motion alerts don’t have any AI filtering. I was getting pinged constantly because the camera was picking up the movement of my plants in the wind that are just off my walkway. Shadows from my tree would also trigger notifications. I had to narrow my notification grid to just the concrete front porch and part of my walkway. This behavior is nothing new to me – my Arlo system was the same way without the subscription to enable AI filtering of movement alerts. With something like CamPlus it should help filter down some of those false positives through person detection, package recognition, etc. As of right now my narrowed detection zone works well and its giving me alerts for the area I care about.
Overall, the Wyze video doorbell works well for me. Its small form factor and easy setup were very appealing as well as its low startup price. The video quality is on par with what I had hoped for, and the chime alert works great. The only downsides I found were with the lack of Nest Hub support, and needed to tailor my motion alert zone to reduce false notifications. Other than that it has worked great for me in the week that I have used it.

Great little doorbell cameras. I have had several between our houses we have in 2 separate states. This little unit is an excellent affordable option. Some other "big name" doorbell camera's can get in the $100+ to $200+ range.
Set up was simple. The included mounting equipment was simple, the wired doorbell is simply 2 screws. Pretty much impossible to mess up. If you may not be the handiest person, I am sure most people know someone who could help them out.
One thing I definitely appreciate about the Wyze system is it's native 3:4 camera aspect ratio. Many others use the 16:9 aspect ration which leaves so much unused screen, whereas the 3:4 uses all of the screen on most phones and tablets. Nice feature.
Another feature that is nice (again, especially for the price) is the included LED. It's pretty bright!
End of the day, this is an excellent choice. If you already have the Wyze native environment, this is a no brainer. Or if you are debating which ecosystem to go with, I would certainly encourage you to take a serious look at Wyze. Impressive little unit!

I'm very content with this doorbell. I went ahead and got the wired doorbell that way I don't have to deal with batteries dying on me. I did have to purchase an AC adapter from Amazon because the area in which I was going to install the doorbell had no electrical outlet. The installation was not complicated at all. Simply connect the small wires and then to the power outlet and you're all set. I did however find it difficult to connect to the internet. It took several minutes to find the signal. It also had a hard time scanning the QR code. You also must download the app to be able to use the doorbell to the fullest. One thing that I loved about this doorbell is that it lights up at night when someone comes to the door, making it easy for visitors to also see the location of the doorbell. The app helps you manage the notifications that can be annoying but I'd rather be safe than sorry. It has great night vision and it really detects anything and anyone that is outside. There is a monitoring service that you can purchase but in my case I did not, it's not necessary to have. I think this doorbell is definitely worth your money.

High definition video doorbell, easy installation

Replacing the "dumb" pushbutton with the Wyze video doorbell was very simple. The app guided me through the installation. Each step from removing the old chime electrical circuit to pairing the chime and doorbell to my account was nicely illustrated.
Where to add my new device through the app was a tad unintuitive. After a few wrong selections I stumbled on the doorbell under the VIDEO add tab. Just so you don't suffer looking for it too.
The app knew the device was in need of software updating and offered to perform it NOW or later. I chose NOW and after 5 or more minutes and a few reboots I was back in business.
The chime links easily with and through the app screen. It is loud and has a distinct tone. The doorbell, once pressed, also chimes so the visitor knows it is working.
The outdoor camera and button can be mounted flat or at an angel thanks to the included wedge. I like the clear and sharp picture quality that appears on my cellphone or iPad. The app announces the visitor's presence once the button is actuated with a pop up on the cell/iPad's display. The warm blue bell symbol draws attention to the device. I like this for two reasons, it gets visitors attention and also is a deterrent to someone uninvited (package pirates). The power for the camera end is supplied from ta standard bell AC transformer. Nothing extra required. The chime plugs into the nearest convenient AC outlet. No wiring required.

Pleasantly surprised, compact

Video doorbells are a common technology needs for homes nowadays, both from a convenience and safety standpoint. This unit really did surprise me for a few key reasons, compactness as its features within the doorbell itself. Firstly, the doorbell is tiny, like super tiny. I wasnt expecting it to be so compact, yet it was, and still was able to capture 1080p video, conduct 2-way voice comms as well as withstand the elements with its IP65 weatherproof rating. Set up was was easy too, this unit comes with all screws, mounts, caps etc that are needed in order to get this properly fastened to your home. Remember, this is a hard-wired unit, not wireless so existing doorbell wires are required for this doorbell to function. It pairs nicely with the companion app along side my other other same-branded tech which made it a once stop shop for all things home A/V related. The only small hesitancy I had was making sure the power to the doorbell was off, I had to double check it twice to assure I didnt receive an unneeded jolt.
All in all, this video doorbell provides great sound and video, even though it is not 4k, it still delivers. The in-app functions of this are also great with motion detection options as well as auto storage of clips for a t week period. If you are looking for an affordable player in the videodoorbell space I would high recommend this model.

A budget door bell - Has its cons

Overall
I’ve been a fairly long time user of Wyze products. From their earliest v1 camera to the first pan model (fell off the wagon then). The build quality and specs have always been very reasonable to good. This didn’t disappoint at first. The plastic casing is about the same material as the other Wyze outdoor cams and about the size of a box of tik-tac’s. The package comes with everything you’d need including some stuff competitor brands sell separately. In the box you have the door bell itself, plug-in chime, wedge plate, a bag of wires and other hardware, and a quick start guide. Even though you get a quick start guide, you don’t really need it if you’re an existing Wyze user. The app walks you through the entire process step-by-step.
Setup
Setting up was very simple and took about 45 min. Remove existing door bell and wire in Wyze, either using the extension or directly. I went direct since the spacing in the wall wouldn’t allow for more wires. Then adding a fuse wire to the existing wiring in the door bell chime (this is the chime that likely came pre-installed in your home). Then follow, or finish following the prompts in the app and you’re all setup and ready to go. Plug the Wyze chime and pair that with the door bell.
Cons
Very slow motion detection - Latency.
Chime isn’t very loud. Roughly the volume of a non-flagship smartphone. I assume so you’ll buy more chimes to place around the house?
At the end of a motion capture event, when the light turns off the camera seems to stop recording.
No SD card slot for local recording, really?
No local networking protocols, for alternate local recording
Bad audio recording quality.
Field of view suffers, has great top/down coverage but lacks left/right coverage when compared to competitors.
Conclusion
Unless you're deeply invested in the Wyze ecosystem, just looking for reputable budget brand, or you can compromise on some of the issues. Spend the extra $20-$120 cash for something that can offer some of the missing features/functions.
And yes, I taped my unit since my door bell sees no real action ever since a fence was put in. This now gives the opportunity to add a door bell at the gate.

It also has a 2 way microphone so you can talk to the person ringing the doorbell. I bought the monthly subscription so i can play back the video recordings.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Save your $$ for something else. I've had success with the floodlight cam but the doorbell worked intermittantly for a few months and then quit working all together. The issue was attributed to wifi not being strong enough. Because of my incredibly busy work schedule I was unable to stop what I was doing and go through the hassle of contracting with a new internet provider. I should also note, I had no issues with wi-fi connectivity for any other tech devise, nor the Wyze floodlight cam which is FARTHER AWAY FROM THE ROUTER!!!! I had a bit of down time and finally switched to a different internet provider, for the sole purpose of getting my doorbell to work. The doorbell STILL DOES NOT WORK! I received 2 errors - 1 that the QR code is invalid (you know, the one generated through my Wyze app) and now an error that says my password is invalid (which it absolutely is not). I just hung up the phone after "troubleshooting" with an off shore rep for 20-30 minutes only to be told there was nothing Wyze can do because my doorbell was out of warranty. I asked to be transferred to a Supervisor and was told this could only be managed via email. DO BETTER WYZE!!!!!

Easy to install wired doorbell. App gives step-by-step instruction. My existing wired (non-camera) doorbell was compatiable with this one, so no issue encountered. Nice HD quality video. Night time video quality is good with built-in light. Came with nice little chime, you can select ringtone. Less expernsive compared with other product. This is my first Wyze product, I would recommend to anyone and I am going for other Wyze products.

I installed this doorbell a few days ago and could not get it to consistently connect to the live feed. I chatted with Wyze tech support for a while and tried all of the reboot options, but no success. I think it will be a good option once I get it working.
