Q: would this 49 inch tv fit on a 40 inch stand or are the feet to wide apart
A: I just measured my TV. The feet span 38 7/8 inches, so it will fit on a 40" stand with 1/2 inch to spare on each side. The width of the TV is 43" so it will overlap the stand by about 2" on each side. It's a very good TV; it works flawlessly with my AT&T UVERSE and high-speed internet.
A: I've just installed the 49", and am wondering if that was a mistake also. Example: football action seems to judder, and so far the judder control doesn't seem to correct it very well. For example, hard to see football in flight on long pass or field goal. Best to compare 49" in a showroom against same action content on larger screen in same line. Disclaimer: I haven't yet tried all possible configuration of motion-related settings. Other than motion issue, picture is gorgeous (IMHO).
A: All the models other than the 49" are 120hz that simulate to 240hz with motionrate. The 49" is 60hz that simulates to 120hz. Hope that answers your question
Q: Does this TV have Closed Captions?
A: Yes, it has closed captioning.
Q: Does this tv have a Digital Optical Audio port?
A: The TV itself doesn't have an optical port, instead Samsung provides an accessory kit ( BOX ) that does. It has 1 optical port, 1 HDMI in port, 4 HDMI out ports, one of which connects to the TV, 1 ARC HDMI port for home theater sound, 1 antenna in port or cable BOX in and 2 USB ports.
A: Press the "Home" button on the TELEVISION remote. Then press the left (9:00) position on the control ring until you highlight the gear wheel (settings) on the far left. Select the Picture icon and use the control ring to move to the Picture Size Settings. Select that and then choose Fit to Screen. That should take care of your problem.
