A: Yes, this is a newer model.
Q: can you set the water levels on this one or is it "auto sense"?
A: DO NOT BUY IT! You cannot adjust the water levels. Read my review. It is a horrible machine with bad engineering and takes forever because it is off balance constantly. It also ties everything in knots. You'll hate it.
Q: Can I wash rugs with rubber backing in this washer?
A: Yes you can. We do all the time and it works just fine. I would use a lower spin setting for the rugs' sake.
Q: Can more be added to the washer after it has started the wash cycle or will the lid be locked?
A: It locks. Will have to turn off and restart.
Q: Can the washer basket under the top be removed?
A: Yes, it can be removed. I just purchased this at the store today and had the sales rep show me how it can be removed. You need to push the two plastic pins out that secure the tray for it to come loose. I don't think it is meant be removed and put back constantly (as it wasn't easy to do), but it can at least be done. The newer models (such as those with the flat top (no raised controls) have ones that are not removable.
A: Sounds as if you have a problem machine as we have the same machine and it is smooth & quiet.
A: If you flip down the sink in this model, it can't break the detergent dispenser like in the last model. The knobs look different, too. Other than that, I don't see any noticeable difference.
A: The hoses are included as well as delivery, installation and take away. Since your washer is only 5 months old they will give you a substantial rebate. I had mine a year and four months and I got $467 back because I bought another Samsung. You can find all of the info on line.
