Great zigbee motion sensor
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Item works great! I use it in my bathroom so that when I walk in during the night, it turns on one of 3 of my zigbee light bulbs on the vanity to 40%. I have had another one for about 1 year, have changed the battery once. I use Home assistant on a Raspberry pi 4 with a zigbee and leave usb dongle.

Fell off in 3 weeks
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. While I like the sensor, the sticky side is really bad. The sensor fell off in 3 weeks.

So far great!
||Posted .This device performs exactly as expected. I installed it in my garage, then set up an automation to notify my cell when motion is detected. If the garage door opens, it tells me. If anyone enters the garage it tells me, and these notifications arrive almost instantaneously. I haven't tested the range, but I think it detects cars passing down our street (if the garage door is open). The magnetic ball mount is a nice idea too allowing easy pointing of the sensor and removal to replace the CR 2 battery. I'm not sure about the battery life yet (so only 4 stars) but otherwise this one is a great product, and I anticipate that I will buy at least one or two more to add to my system.

Necessary item for home automation joy (ie. lazy!)
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. So, if you have a SmartThings setup, you'll have or need several of these. Not only is it a motion sensor, but it also has a temperature sensor in it as well. For me, the temp feature is just one less sensor I'd have to buy and place somewhere, as I'm checking temps in different areas/levels of my home. Really these things are pretty superfluous, but they are cool. I have mine setup outside my bedroom door, and have an activity set that between certain hours in the morning (range when wife and i get ready for work), if the TV is off and/or the downstairs light is off, when it senses us leaving to head down, it will turn all that on for us so we can't be hassled with flipping a switch or hitting a button like mere mortals. Is this a necessary thing for most, of course not. Is it a handy thing that can make simple little things more convenient, heck yeah! And I'm not using this to its potential honestly, as there is so much more it can be made to do. Def must buy if you in the SmartThings universe, and pretty cheap too I think.

Better then I expected!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I was debating if to go with this or other more expensive sensors. I'm so glad that I went with this one. It works really well, and very responsive. Some sensors have major delays, which are not practical to use for turning on lights when the sensor is tripped. This little guy is pretty responsive. In addition to motion sensing, it monitors temperature. It also let's you know the battery level. Speaking of which, 1 month uses around 25%, so batteries may last around 4 months give or take. I use it with the Samsung Smarthings Hub. I have several around the house without breaking the bank. Excellent all around. Hope this review is helpful.

I keep buying more of these
||Posted .I use these as occupancy sensors for lighting in areas that my kids keep leaving lights on. I paired each sensor with either a smart switch or a smart bulb. My main full bathroom was the first to get these, it works perfectly. Upon entering the bathroom, the lights turn on right away and start a digital timer for 15 minutes. After the timer is done, the lights turn off. But with the motion sensor, I have it set to continually reset the timer to 15 minutes as long as it senses motion. So after 15 minutes of no motion detected, the lights turn off along with the bath fan. Cons: Will not detect you if you sit very still, but that is expected. Also it will not detect you through a shower curtain, it needs to "see" you to work. Pros: Long battery life, still have not had to change any batteries. Also keeps track of temperature, which you can make "triggers" for. Easy set-up, open SmartThings app, hit the + button, scan code and you are done. Using WebCore, you open up even more functionality and create complex triggers/actions.

Solid performance motion sensor
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I have a coupe of these at home. The motion sensing works really well. Fast and accurate response. They also have a built-in temperature sensor too. The back is magnetic so you attach it to any metal surface. Magnet is real strong too. It also includes a mounting base which allows the sensor to be mounted in different angles. My only issue with this model motion sensor is that it goes through it's battery within 2-3 months depending on traffic in its field of motion. It uses a CR2 battery which is a bit more expensive than the smaller coin batteries. To be fair though, most motion sensors by other brands use a similar battery. I found some rechargeable CR2 batteries made by "Watson" which seem to work well and eliminate this battery cost issue. Other than that they are excellent.

Works just like it should!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I am very much into having a smart home and home automation. I've been a SmartThings consumer for about 4 years now. I have over 20 smart lights and smart light switches in the house, along with smart locks, water sensors, and thermostats. I wanted to add a way to get notified when the mail came and I didn't want a contact sensor on the door of the mailbox because I was afraid it would get knocked off when the mail was being delivered, and I couldn't really figure out a way to make it work. So, I bought this motion sensor and was very pleased to see that the back of it was magnetic. I popped it in the back of my mailbox and now I have it set up to send me an alert any time the mailbox is opened so that I know that my mail has arrived. I'll also be able to know if someone is tampering with my mailbox at which time I will be able to review my Nest camera. My only wish was that it communicated with Ring and could activate my doorbell camera when the mailbox was opened, but Ring doesn't support that type of communication with SmartThings.

Q: QuestionDoes this device work with IFTTT? (Without a hub)
Asked by Vinny.
- A:Answer No, this sensor requires some hub. I would recommend the Samsung hub. Right now it’s $69. Once you have that you can do just about anything. I have mine controlling lights, garage doors, front door locks, and motion sensors. It’s a lot of fun to say “Alexa Goodnight”. and ave it close the garage door, lock the front door, and dim all the lights to night mode. Enjoy!

Q: QuestionWhat battery does this model use? I have the old ST motion sensor which uses a CR2477 battery which is proving difficult to find from a retailer.
Asked by Battery.
- A:Answer I have this new unit and the older unit. The new (current) version takes 1 x CR2 battery which is actually sold in retail stores like Best Buy. For the older unit, I had to order replacement CR2477 batteries online through Amazon.

Q: QuestionWe have a small cat . . . will her movement around home trigger this device?
Asked by BillK52.
- A:Answer Unlikely but I guess it would depend on how if the cat was moving in its range . We have a small dog and it doesn't trigger the device.

Q: QuestionI'm not able to find these motion sensors anywhere. Is there a shortage?
Asked by Technologist.
- A:Answer It appears to be discontinued. I'm looking for a suitable replacement. This thing has motion and temp. Pretty useful. The alternatives are cheaper, but motion only.

Q: QuestionDoes it save a file? Trying to bust my maintenance man in my apartment when he shouldn't be
Asked by Oops.
- A:Answer Through the Samsung Smart Thing App you can have it send you a text message when it detects motion. A Wi-Fi motion activated camera would be better for video proof.
