Impressive Clarity and Room Filling Experience
Posted .Pros mentioned:For movies, Set up, Sound qualityCons mentioned:Audio cables, InputsThe Sony HT-G700 Sound Bar with separate subwoofer is an easy to install sound system with a wealth of listening options. At first, I was concerned about attaching this to a non-Sony TV. Still, it works perfectly with my Insignia TV and Apple TV configuration. Unboxing and Setup While the box is a bit of a monster, the equipment inside was secure, and I was able to unpack the system quickly. The sound bar fits perfectly between the legs of my 55" Insignia TV, and the subwoofer fits nicely below the TV stand. I attached the sound bar to the TV via a digital optical cable, then connected a power cable to the sound bar and another to the subwoofer. No connection cable is required for the subwoofer since it uses Bluetooth. I powered up the sound bar with the included remote and then powered up the TV. The sound bar controls are on the very top of the sound bar, which made it easy to put it into "pairing mode." The TV easily paired with the sound bar via Bluetooth. The subwoofer automatically paired with the sound bar via Bluetooth, but it does have a button on the back for putting into "pairing mode" for connecting to other devices. Remote Control The remote control has a lot of buttons for just controlling a sound bar. However, they are easily marked and are easy to use. I appreciate not having to use a toggle button to step through the different sound modes. There is a separate button for each mode. The volume button is big and easy to use, and there are separate buttons for the subwoofer volume. Sound The sound of the Sony HT-G700 Sound Bar is impressive! The Immersive AE mode provides the best "surround-sound" feel I have ever experienced with a forward-facing sound bar. There are three forward-facing 100W speakers, and the Immersive AE mode projects the sound both forward and upward to create greater depth. I also noticed that this makes the dialog in movies a lot clearer. A separate mode for making dialogs clearer can also be used (available on the remote as "VOICE"). I also enjoy the "Cinema" mode when watching movies for a robust experience. If there is a lot of dialogs, I use the Immersive AE mode, and for films with more action and sound effects, the Cinema mode works well. The sound bar was easy to pair with my iPhone for playing music. With the sound bar in "Music" mode and the subwoofer cranked up on a wooden floor, the house was rocking out! Sound Modes • Auto Sound: Automatically selects the appropriate sound setting for the selected sound source. • Standard Sound: Best for TV broadcasts. • Cinema: Perfect for a forward projected movie feel that wraps around you. • Immersive AE: A virtual vertical surround projection that fills the room. • Music: The focus is on enhancing music. This mode works great for streaming concerts and performances. • Voice: The dialog range is expanded and improves clarity. • Night: This keeps the clear sound at a lower volume when it's late at night. General Specifications • Three front-facing speakers: 100W per channel at 4 ohms, 200-20,000 Hz. • Subwoofer, bass-reflex: 100W at 4 ohms, 100 Hz • HDMI IN • HDMI Out • Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP, AaVRCP • Digital Optical In • USB for updates • Audio Formats: LPCM 2ch, LPCM 5.1, LPCM 7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS-ES Discrete 6.1, DTS 96/24, DTS-HD, DTS:X Summary I am happy with the Sony HT-G700 Sound Bar and Subwoofer. As an older musician with some hearing loss, this system provides an impressive range and clarity. This system has dramatically improved my TV viewing experience. It was easy to set up and configure. And the Remote Control is easy to use due to the individual buttons for the multiple features and sound modes.

Amazing Sound, Easy installation
Posted .Pros mentioned:For movies, Set up, Sound qualityCons mentioned:VolumeI had the HT-G700 for a week and have used it everyday and explored some of the features that benefit my setup the most. I have to say it is a very nice sounding soundbar and i love the design. Setup: The setup is very straightforward and simple, it has wireless (bluetooth-wireless thru compatible Sony Tv's) and wired (HDMI). I decided to place this soundbar/subwoofer with my computer setup as i watch a lot of movies, do a lot of gaming and enjoy videos. I also wanted to see how versatile it was without hooking it up to a TV. The set up was very quick and painless, the bluetooth option was quick to pair. It offers BT5.0 and the connection is solid and stable. I also don't experience any lag between the video and the soundbar. The touch buttons on the top of the speaker are reminiscent of sony's wireless headphones WH-1000XM3, same tactile feel. The performance is amazing, you would think overkill for a computer setup but i have (2) 34 inch monitors and the picture quality for is amazing and i wanted the matching sound quality to go with it. The sound is very versatile and with the added remote it makes it pretty simple if i don't want to fiddle with any menu options on the pc. The wireless pairing of the subwoofer makes placement very easy and since i tried to streamline the wires the wireless center speaker/subwoofer make for a very clean setup. Some of the options i use the most, hopefully it helps others decide on this awesome soundbar For gaming i love the AE-audio enhancement option because it upscales audio up to 7.1.2 and it fills the room with the sound effects- the center channel speaker is very clear and the sub provides that deep background for those tense action sequences. I use the cinema option when watching Netflix and the sound just pours out of the speakers and wraps around the whole room. The remote is much handier than you would think, the ability to quickly switch sound modes, subwoofer volume makes it quick and easy to get the sound you want when gaming or watching movies. NIGHT MODE - when the gaming-movie sessions go longer than it thought into the late hours NIGHT MODE an easy option button click away that quickly subdues the sound not to wake others in the house. The remote is simple but it has all the options you need at your fingertips. The design of the soundbar is pretty cool, it has the built-in hooks on the back for wall mount installation but i chose to install it on my PC desk. The design makes keeping it clean easy, gone are the days of cloth speaker screen getting dirty and dusty and unable to clean it. The mesh on this speaker is a wire mesh so cleaning it with a damp cloth is very easy. The subwoofer has a very sleek design, prone to smudges but you should be handling it anyway. The all black design with the wire speaker mesh also makes it easy to clean and looks great. OVERALL a very nice looking speaker that offers great sound with not a ton of sound options but it has what you need and does it extremely well. If you are looking for a wireless option with great sound that looks pretty cool then this is it...i definitely recommend it.. Hopefully i answered a few questions you might have.

X900H + HT-G700H = Match made in heaven
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I bought this to pair with my new Sony X900H and PS5, and—I’ll be honest—you’re not going to get true spatial sound, but the engineering in this soundbar is so good that it’s still pretty darn good. It’s perfect for mid-size rooms or husbands with wives who won’t let them connect speakers everywhere. Dialogue is better than on my old Sony soundbar and the the comparable Samsung bar I tested in-store. It also passes HDR10 and Dolby Vision 4K through, making it superior to the Sonos Arc on that front. Not a lot of bells and whistles, no on-screen menu but it’s a sturdy, well-crafted set it and forget solution.

Incredible Soundbar!
Posted .Pros mentioned:Bass, For movies, Set upThis Sony Soundar is incredible! I was especially curious about their “immersive experience” setting. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!!! I really loved it when I connected my phone and was listening to music. It made me feel like I was at the concert. It replicated the feel of actually going to a concert because the sound comes at you organically. What I mean by that is It doesn’t feel like the music is coming from LEFT SPEAKER….& RIGHT SPEAKER like every other sound bar and stereo. The Sony Soundbar with the Immersive feature feels like the sound is coming from the original singer and instruments on stage… I walked up to the sound bar and was leaning in to try to pin point the sound and it just envelops you! It truly is incredible!! It does exactly what they claim...It envelops you. I sat there and turned the feature on and off a couple of times and kept saying "wow". Now imagine that with your first person shooter or any of your favorite video games or movies! The bullets flying the explosions rumbling. Next level stuff. The sound is so well balanced. With many soundbars Iv'e had, the subwoofer and the bar fight each other and muddle each other. From my previous units, I would get great bass and poor clarity on the talking scenes or vice versa. It was frustrating. The Sony soundbar is crystal clear and so balanced. It is so nice to clearly hear an intimate conversation on screen and then the scene cuts to an action scene and the bass is there to really bring you into the action. With this Sony soundbar the bass and the bar are in perfect harmony! I went through a dozen or so of my favorite movies and checked out different scenes because I was so excited to hear what Sony accomplished with this soundbar, dinosaurs, helicopter, shootouts and the awesome soundtracks that accompany all that action were a new experience with this soundbar! Set up was a breeze! I literally pulled out the bar plugged it into my TV, plugged my game console into the bar and paired the subwoofer and I was done in a few minutes…Super easy. It has a cool demo feature as well to try out. Using the eArc/ARC made controls easy. I usually play games with my gaming headphones but the bass on this soundar really put you into the action a headphone can’t. My living room literally sounds like a war zone!!! Sooo cool. Ultimately for me, this soundbar does what all great technology does at its best, it blends into our lives seamlessly and allows for a deeper enjoyment of our lives. I find myself watching my favorite shows or listening to my music and just being able to get lost in it. On tv shows the clarity and realistic sound takes me into the moment more than I thought a soundbar could do. I wish I could give it 6 Stars!!! It’s that Good!!

Very Nice Sony Upgrade
Posted .Pros mentioned:For movies, Set up, Sound qualityWe had a Sony HTX9000 sound bar system in our bedroom and although we liked it, there were some drawbacks. But I've usually had good experiences with Sony A/V equipment, so when I saw the HT-G700's specs, I thought I'd give it a try and I'm honestly glad I did - bottom line, it's a nice upgrade from our old Sony sound bar. In this package, you'll get: * HT-G700 sound bar * 400w Wireless subwoofer * Sony A/V Remote with batteries * HDMI Cable The sound bar itself sports a 3-channel sound field, which is a nice upgrade from the 2.1 setup we had before. That means there's a dedicated center channel speaker to ensure you get punchy dialog instead of it being muted and divided into the left and right channels. It also comes with Sony's vertical sound and support for Dolby Atmos to create a feeling of sounding coming from all around you. Additional features include: * Sony's Immersive Audio Enhancement to upscale audio to 7.1.2 channel surround sound * Voice Mode to enhance those movies with loud bangs and quiet dialog * 4K HDR 18Gbps passthrough with HDCP 2.3 support * eARC support for Dolby Atmos supported content * Defined sound modes tailored to different media like movies, games, and Night Mode * Bluetooth streaming and wireless TV audio options The overall design of the sound bar is very sturdy feeling, it doesn't feel overly light or cheap like other sound bars I've tried in the past. There's some decent heft to this bar and the accompanying woofer. The LED display on the unit is minimalist and can also be dimmed if desired, which since this is in our bedroom, we did. The woofer is a decent size and weight also. The back of the sound bar also has the spots to measure if you want to mount the sound bar on a wall too, so no extra wall mount required, which is nice, although we left it on the top of a entertainment center. Setup was a breeze, plug in HDMI-ARC to TV and back of sound bar and we were up and running in less than 5 minutes. The sound bar also supports HDMI passthrough, so you can connect a video streaming box, cable box or video game system to sound bar if you're running short on cable or dealing with a wall-mounted TV. Setup goes as follows: * Connect the sound bar using the HDMI-ARC option on your TV * Power on the sound bar * Plug in the Subwoofer That's it! The sound output is much more noticeable than our previous Sony sound bar, and we love it! It works nicely on the TV stand we have in our bedroom. Watching movies makes the bedroom feel like a private mini-theater, so now when my wife is watching Masked Singer or something on our main TV, I can fire up Underworld or Deadpool in the bedroom and it sounds just as good. Just a head's up - this sound bar is not a "smart" sound bar. There's no digital voice assistant option with this, it's just a great sounding sound bar that offers 3.1 sound, 4k passthrough, Dolby Atmos, in a simple to set up package. This unit is a great solution for someone looking to add a good sound system for movies without a lot of headaches. At $599.99, it's definitely not the cheapest solution out there - but considering some other sound bars cost that much and don't offer a wireless sub, it's a pretty good price.

Q: QuestionThis only has 1 hdmi input? So I can’t hook up my Apple TV n my PlayStation thru the sound bar? Or does it just pay to go with HTZ9F
Asked by Billy.
- A:Answer If your TV supports eARC, then either soundbar works. If it doesn't then this new soundbar would only support the highest audio codecs on only ONE device. Both soundbars support eARC.

Q: QuestionCan this sound bar be placed on a table that is 28 inches wide? Is wall mounting preferred?
Asked by Bevi.
- A:Answer It could but would hang over about 4 1/2 inches on either side. If that’s all I had I’d get a cheap wall mount and do that. It would look better to me.

Q: QuestionHow does the HTG700 not properly support 4k passthrough? If I turn on Dolby Vision on my 2019 Shield TV, I can't play any DV titles from Netflix or Disney+ Using the cables supplied with the soundbar and have the HDMI port set to Enhanced.
Asked by Matt.
- A:Answer I actually got it resolved. It turns out even the HDMI cables supplied with the bar are not adequate. I purchased some 48 gbps HDMI 2.1 cables from Amazon, and, after I hooked up the bar using those, everything has been working fine now. No more audio drops, DV titles on Netflix and D+ all play perfectly. Not sure why this made a difference, as the cables work on my other 5.1.2 system with my Yamaha RX-A1080. Those same cables do not work with the soundbar however. My guess is it's something to do with the HDCP handshake on your G700. Either way, it's working now.

Q: QuestionCan hdmi cable hook up with hdmi arc to hdmi earc
Asked by Ck2.
- A:Answer Hi Ck2, thank you for your question. Yes, you can hook up the soundbar's HDMI EARC to HDMI ARC which will give sound. However, the bandwidth restrictions of ARC will mean you won't be able to experience the high bitrate audio that eARC can provide. EARC can be switched on/off for this unit. ~Earl
