A: Yes... 3.5" input. I use a variety of external microphones plugged directly into this camera and do not use the internal microphone.
Q: Record on SD and output the HDMI at the same time?
A: The camcorder can be recording while streaming via the HDMI. The resolution output is 720p-1080p.
