I returned my Jawbone Up3 after wearing it for 3 weeks religiously. Skin irritation was an issue, and the fact that you can't spot check your heart rate. So after a little bit of research, I found Striiv and purchased it right away.
Here are my observations from having worn it less than a day:
1. the tracker's shape is strange because the opposite side of the face has three sensors, so the face has to be wide. As such the bracelet fits tight under the tracker's face and on the opposite side, but the sides immediately following the tracker's face stick away from the wrist. I have attached the picture. When you wear the tracker non-stop for several hours, it gets painful.
2. the tracker could do so much more, but the app is very bare bones, to its own detriment. Not a lot of functions, and to make up for that, the app creators slapped a game into the app's menu, as if saying: sorry the app is bad, here, play some games instead. The app only links to MyFitnessPal (and I have yet to see that on the MFP app). If you are using LoseIt!, for example, you are out of luck.
3. The sleep tracker is a joke.
4. There is no inactivity reminder.
5. I bought this tracker to spot check my heart rate throughout my workouts, but I did a comparison with a dedicated heart monitor strapped to me, and the heart rate monitor on Striiv is inaccurate, it read at least 10 bpm below what the dedicated heart monitor was reading. So much for that.
I am disappointed, so I am returning this item to the store. It is a very raw, unfinished, and unpolished product, it needs a lot of work. I think it was unwise to release this preemie baby into the same environment as FitBit, Jawbone, and Garmin. Those big boys will stomp this baby into dust without even trying. I guess Striiv wanted to cash in on the tracker craze with a poorly designed item. I wonder if this decision will kill any hope that in the future, even with a hypothetical better tracker from Striiv, the company will have customer trust. Once you release a sub-par item into the market, you may be associated with that item for a long time even if your other products rock.
