Q: how are the cameras powered?
A: There are 2 wires that run from the back of the dvr to the camera. One is for video the other is power. The power comes from a plug that goes into the wall and has a splitter that can power 5 cameras.
A: Yes it does, it does not record unless someone passes by you can adjust the sensitivity in the area of your home backyard that you want it to focus on is also another option that I like about it.
Q: do you have service to install the camaras
A: Don't know what you mean by service you just need to plug it into any outlet and into the monitor you like i.e your tv but if you want to be able to check your camera when your away on your iPhone or smartphone you would have to download the app on your smartphone or device and the dvr that comes with the camera have to be connected to a router from your cable provider.
Q: Does this system record audio?
A: No, this surveillance system doesnot record audio.
Q: How long
A: I ran the provided cables and added 25 feet of extra cable and still have the same quality as the provided cables alone.
A: You would have to mount the cameras and run the wires to the dvr. We ran ours through the attic
