A: The tiles do not operate until activated, (there is a plastic strip that is pulled out to establish connection between the battery and device. That said batteries being stored over time will be less effective. I bought a four pack 3 years ago and just started using the last one in April, and it's going fine. My tiles run anywhere from a year to 15-17 months. It's really dependent on how often you use the find the device function or find my phone if you double click on the tile. When the app sees the device is over 1 year activated and it is at less than optimum power (although it may still be functional) it starts to give a message every couple weeks, then every week, then every day. You can push it off for 2 weeks. Eventually it gives a message that "your tile may be unable to generate a sufficient signal within the next 10 days." That was my alrighty then. and changed it out. (15 months of use)
Q: Could we use the computer or tablet to find the lost item if you don't have smart phone?
A: You can use a tablet to find the lost item.
A: No.....but you can buy them separately. ..they just cost more. They are sold as a one pack, two pack, four pack, and I have even seen an eight pack.
Q: Is it true that each Tile only last 1 year because you can't replace the battery?
A: As far as I can tell, it is true.
Q: What is the distance the tile is able to be tracked (i.e. 100 feet, 1 mile, 5 miles etc.)
A: The way these work is using bluetooth. But it's community shared. When you loose connection with the tile it will mark it's last known spot like at an address level. If another tile user gets near it and you have marked your tile lost you will get notified. Distance to you is irrelevant. You could loose it on the other side of the world, so long as another tile user comes close to it you'll get notified.
Q: Will these work to tract luggage?
A: You could. If you are withing Bluetooth range of your tile in your luggage you should be able to locate your luggage from with in the app. If you are not it will show you the last location it was connected to your. Phone in a map.
A: Some of these are for wallets, keychains and purses. I can track anything. Ones the battery dies you can send it back to tile and they will discount the old one and you have to pay the difference. They are great quality!!!!!!
A: This combo pack can track between 5 to 8 items! Each of the 4 Tiles can track the item it is attached to AND the phone it was activated with. So if one person activates all 4 Tiles on the same phone then this combo pack can track 5 items - the items with 4 Tiles attached AND the phone. Now if the combo pack was split between 2 people, then it can track 6 items -the 4 items the Tiles are attached to AND both phones assuming each person activates their Tiles on their phone. The same would be true if the 4 Tiles are split between 3 or 4 people- the 4 items the Tiles are attached to AND each of the phones assuming each person activates their Tiles on their phone. This is possible because you can press the button on the Tiles to make your lost phone ring even if it’s in silent mode, at least it does for my iPhone.
