Got desired speed
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I had spectrum plan of 100MBps but with old router I never received a speed with more than 20mb/s. I thought maybe problem was with the spectrum. I changed the router and noticed I get the desired speed. Also this works with both 5G and 2G wifi.

Decent router
||Posted .The setup was relatively straightforward, and the router seems to work reasonably well. The user interface web page is a bit "dumbed down" and with fewer options than my old D-Link router (DIR-655). But it has the capabilities that I need, including the ability to put the MAC addresses of my devices into a whitelist so that only my devices are allowed to connect. I did not attempt to measure the actual bandwidth of my connections, but they seem more than adequate for my modest needs, and higher than my old router. It also seems to boot-up a bit faster than my old router. I have only 2 minor gripes, though I was aware of them before I purchased it. (1) the antennas are not removable, so I could not replace them with longer, higher-gain antennas. But the signal strength I get at my furthest device is the same or slightly better than what I got with my old router. (2) the status indicator LEDs are on top of the router rather than my preferred location on the side. I place the router on top of a bookshelf to minimize signal obstructions from furniture etc. But when it's up there, I cannot see the status LEDs unless I get up on a ladder or lift the router off the bookshelf and tilt it so I can see the LEDs.

Not only a router
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed.I use it not only as a router but to run a VPN server at my house in Europe. It can run OpenVPN and PPTP VPN. The router can also connect to a VPN server as a client and all your connections will be routed through VPN. I'm also using it with TP-Link AC1200 Wi-Fi Extender(RE315) to extend the range of Wi-Fi signal. This is a nice Wi-Fi mesh combination which connects you to the device with strongest signal depending where you are.

Solid router, steady speeds, 2 modes
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Great access point. This really opened up my range and works as a second gateway and router with great ethernet and wireless speed and connectivity. Many useful options for techies built in. Can be set to simple operational mode as an access point or more advanced in router mode with an even more advanced, advanced menu within. Very advanced for the price. Could easily replace most gateways or be used as a second access point with more control than the cable company router over network traffic and QOS abilities.

Big improvement over our old router.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Since social distancing began, my household has had 2 adults teleworking, one taking classes online, and 2 watching Roku. Our old wifi router wasn't cutting it. This router handles all these tasks easily, and hasn't needed to be reset since we got it 2 weeks ago. You can set up separate networks on the 5GHz and 2.4GHz channels or have one network that hops frequency based on performance. It also lets you set up a guest network separate from the password protected network.

great coverage - fast - no more dropping
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Got this to replace a cisco/linksys that would repeatedly drop 2.4 signal while 5G would stay active. I wanted a gigabit dual band, and the TPLINKs have been rated especially highly lately - especially the C7. When this C6 was on sale I thought I'd try - glad I did. Strong coverage throughout the house - its in a side room upstairs and coverage to 1st floor opposite corner as well as into the room over the garage is great. You can configure it in 'smart' mode if desired which names both bands the same so compatible dual band devices will use the fastest/stronest/least congested band. Of course you can just set up the bands separately in convential setup if desired. It can also be set up as an AP if needed.

Fast WiFi? Yes please!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I purchased this router to upgrade from another TP Link dual band router. Set up was very easy (although I couldn’t simply upload a settings file from one router to the other). Wifi performance was impressive - previously when I did a speed test, I would rarely get over 70 Mbps but since installing this router I have seen over 120 Mbps over WiFi on my iPhone. I did make a minor change to the order in which devices connected to the modem, which may have improved things but I like to think the upgrade was a great decision. Of course time will tell and I will update my review if it fails (I’ve been using it about a month at the time of writing).
