Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Series X
It seems that Turtle Beach headsets last only a year. I am a 53 year old male and I take care of my products. They do not just lay around on the floor or get dropped. Everything has a place and the headset sits on a shelf. The plastic tips that hold the ear piece on are broke and just fell off. I get tired of paying $100.00 per year to support Turtle Beach. I bought this headset about a month ago, and just returned it today. The headset itself was comfortable and sounded good WHEN IT WORKED. I liked the design, I liked the wireless for the price points, and I liked the functions. The reason this product is an absolute dud is that the wireless connection simply does not work efficiently and it seems as though the company has already given up on the product. The first thing you read is a bunch of negative reviews about audio dropouts, distortion, and mic issues. I chose to ignore them and give it a go because of the prestige of the Turtle Beach brand. As soon as you open the box you see a big print out notice in bold letters saying "DO NOT RETURN THIS PRODUCT, WE CAN HELP". The notice goes on to say to contact support if having any difficulties. It's obvious through that notice and a few hot fixes that they patched out that the company knows the hardware itself is flawed. I was having issues with audio dropouts, mic problems, and most notably the god awful audio distortion; everything sounded out of tune and sometimes slowed down like a DJ spinning tracks. It was so bad that it destroyed any in game music by transposing it a few cents off key. I went through the troubleshoot. I updated and formatted the headset 3 times. I turned off one of my router's signal bands. I even turned off my wifi for moments to test it. Nothing helped. Finally helpless, I contacted support. This is where the true essence of this warning review comes into play. I contacted them expecting some words of consolation and reassurance. Maybe providing some ideas on how to get the product to work. Maybe reassurance that the problems were recognized and were being worked on. What I got was the exact opposite. A turtle beach rep named "Jin" simply told me to return the product and stating that there was something in my "wireless environment" causing interference. Mind you, I turned off my router's wifi and the 2.4 ghz band. So basically this product seems to have some inherent design flaws, which the company is aware of and believes it can't fix. They suggest things like removing the router from the xbox room (which any true gamer knows is absolutely ridiculous proposition). I believe this is probably a legacy product inside the company's inner circle and they are moving away from trying to provide solutions and just cutting their losses. So if you live on a farm, with no wireless signals around you, don't have your router in the room, are ok with turning off a band from your home router this might be a good headset for you. If you live in any city or urban environment, I can almost guarantee you will have the same interference that I did, and the company just doesn't care. Save yourself the money, stay away for now. I would be wary of any Turtle Beach products going forward after seeing how this company's culture operates. I personally lost all trust that the company can actively support their customers and their purchases after-the-fact once their 30-day return period is finished.
It's as if Turtle Beach geared these towards small children as far as the audio quality goes, where is the volume, where is the bass, the treble.Super human hearing is a lesson in horrendous sound qua!ity that often is plagued by a annoying PHWACK as the speaker overloads..Shameful quality, My first venture into TB and my last!!! Save your money. Garbage
Not only did my headsets break where the speakers connect to the headpiece after squeaking a day after I got them, they also have the worst sound quality I’ve ever heard when you go into superhearing mode. It sounds like busted speakers. Completely disappointed as I’ve had turtle beaches since my 360 days. I’m done with this company!
I wanted to add a review of this product because the reviews seemed so mixed. I purchased these on 12/24/18 and am reviewing on 3/20/20. As soon as I received these cans I hooked them to my Mac and updated the firmware and allowed them to fully charge (green light). I then hooked them to my Xbox One X as I would an Xbox controller. Since that time I have not had one single issue with them. No disconnects, no low sound, no dead time, no cutting out, no popping....just a great experience. Are they $150 bucks?? No. I have never owned a set of headphones that pricy so I can’t compare. Compared to my Polk Audio Striker Contract Editions they sound as good or better and no wires! The mic monitoring is great, and works better then the above mentioned pair. The fact these don’t have noise cancellation is evident, especially when the wife fires up the mixer in the background while gaming....but they were $80 bucks. And Turtle Beach said the 600’s don’t have this feature so I was not expecting it.
