Beware! Only 1 HDCP 2.2 Port

    • My Best Buy® Elite Member

This TV works well, but I have a serious problem with the fact that it only has 1 HDCP 2.2 port. For true 4K HDR, you need to use the HDCP 2.2 port of your TV. On this TV, only HDMI 1 is the HDCP 2.2 port and its also the ARC (audio return channel) port. This means that if you use a high-end soundbar (like I do) none of your 4K HDR devices can use the TV's 4K capabilities. If you want to see for yourself, and if you own an Xbox One S or PS4 Pro, you can run tests from your gaming console to see these results. I have included a picture of my review (if Best Buy allows it) where I show the results from my Xbox One S when its plugged in to the HDMI 2 port: No HDR support, No 4K at 60Hhz

    Stunning PQ & Features

The VIZIO MSeries 65" is a stunner. Got this home and was set up in 3 minutes (including set top box and WIFI internet). Was prompted to switch picture mode to Calibrated and the image quality watching TV was amazing. The local dimming really works and produces deep blacks... the colors look rich and motion processing is great. Movies look espeically great. Love using CAST and the app to control content and settings. Apps not availabel on other platforms work perfectly (such as Hulu LIVE beta etc). And was told that in July there will be a firmware update adding an additional on screen smart functionality (search online for images). So cool that significant new features are being added continuously by VIZIO. Reminds me of iPhone where Apple updates software during life of product with more than bug fixes. Kudos to VIZIO on a great product. Only TV I will ever buy after another great experience. You should also know that if you have an issue they have the best customer service based in the US.

Great mid level 4K and HDR

    • My Best Buy® Elite Member

I recently purchased this after my 6 year old Samsung started having issues with the input dropping out. I needed something larger (sit 16 feet away) and wanted to step up to the 4K and HDR world. I've had a few entry level Vizio TVs before and have enjoyed them. With the new 2017 models, the M-series steps up for full UHD capability with a 10-bit panel. While local dimming zones are less. Over all, I am very pleased with this purchase. I run everything through an Xbox One S, so I'm not using the casting capabilities that others have been complaining about. The picture is extremely sharp, and HDR content really pops (X-Men apocalypse is a great test for this). I would recommend visiting and using their calibration settings. This TV has a lot of settings, and spending the time on them could take a very long time. I have found color replication to be great. Viewing angles are not as great as I would have hoped for. Definitely better than my old TV, but not as much as I had thought it would be. I also am not a fan of the local dimming. While browsing the Xbox guide, you can see where the zones are. As such, I've turned it off since then. Maybe is the small number of zones it has, but not the best feature. I would definitely make the same purchase again. Vizio has come a long way.

so we needed a new tv and black friday sales were upon us so we started looking around. i was all set to get a sony or samsung but the prices were still way too high for my budget. when i started to research other options, i found reviews on cnet etc talking about vizio M series and how they really are an amazing screen for the money. probably the best "bang for your buck" option out there other then TCL (which is only 55"). the image is great, and theres a lot of control over the picture including white balance options and individual color controls. if you want to keep it more basic, there's still a good control over brightness/contrast/sharp/tint/etc and the "calibrated" settings are actually really close to perfect already. I work in video production for a living and know my way around a good display and i can see the minor issues or details missing, but the long and the short of it is that most of us can't afford a QLED or OLED screen and just need something that does better then average and can give you an enjoyable viewing experience. the Vizio M series does that by far. The dimming panels work well despite having less sections then others and the HDR looks really good. these features really help pop the contrast and the blacks are crazy deep and the whites are vivid. 4K is nice, but most people won't notice that difference from 1080 but you will definitely notice the difference from SDR to HDR and that is what really counts. this screen does a great job in those aspects and a lot of professional reviewers have compared it to sony and samsung equivalent and found that in some scenarios the vizio actually performs better and usually can at least keep up. so whats wrong with it? well to me, nothing really, but the top negatives I've heard from others is that it has no TV tuner (this isn't a deal breaker for most as a lot of people have a cable box or internet tv sources now). but no tv tuner could effect you but you could also buy an HD tuner for pretty cheap and you'd be set for over the air channels again. the other complaint i see a lot is the HDMI ports. there are 4 but only HDMI 1 supports full HDMI 2.0. this wasn't a deal breaker for me because i can always get an HDMI hub and expand that out if i need to. this might not be something you want to do though, so keep that in mind. the new smartcast is much better then last years attempt with the tablet remote and just casting everything. when it was first released, i heard the smartcast was not very good, juddery, and annoying. maybe they fixed that because i haven't had a lot of trouble with it and everything moves pretty smooth for me. its nice for less tech savy people to be able to just push the netflix button and everything turns on. ( i have a harmony hub and changed those buttons to also include turning on the stereo). the built in chromecast is also nice, especially if you are like us and have google home integration or google assistant on your phone. its nice to have a chromecast option without having to take up an HDMI slot. overall, very happy with this tv and pleasantly surprised to see it keeps up with my high end displays. if you need a budget friendly tv, but don't want to lose out on picture quality, then go for a vizio M series.

    Fantastic product for the price

The contrast is absolutely mind blowing. The new color engine the m series run is absolutely stunning and I find that the new local dimming is great! You get such deep inky blacks on a well balanced picture. Absolutely recommend!

This model was exactly what I was looking for...without having to pay a premium for features I didn't need or want, like a beefed up speaker system (I always run sound through my AVR home theater), nor an over the air tuner (FIOS DVR here), or a cheap tablet remote (iPhone in pocket anyway), or an extensive streaming apps menu (I have two streaming boxes already) Actually this set just got an update that provides a selection of major apps on-screen. Mainly what you're getting here is a display that has superb 4k video quality, and both HDR formats, and great upscaling from 1080P and 720P formats. The contrast, black level, and average brightness are the closest thing to OLED at under one third the price. Inputs are plenty. Set has a nice non-gaudy appearance. Stand went on real easily and is sturdy enough while providing enough height clearance for soundbars and most center channel speakers. I purchased it from BB during a Vizio sponsored sale, and honestly could not be happier with this set.

    Good TV, Good Value

We were hesitant about this purchase at first. We've never purchased a Vizio TV. Paying over $1,000 of a TV wasn't a small investment, but we really wanted a 65 inch TV that was 4K. This TV doesn't have the cable TV input or embedded apps, but you're probably hooking this up to a cable box and a Roku or Apple TV anyways. Great picture with a 4K Blue Ray player. Very satisfied.

Great value. The black levels are so dark I continually forget if the tv is on or off. Color is vivid and pops. Only con is there is only one port with HDR. I'd love to hook up two devices that support HDR
