Easy to setup and easy to use. Extremely slick, you get multiple lines and cell phone use all in one package. The calls are very clear although I did notice slight interference when the microwave is on.
Bluetooth pairing went very quickly with my Verizon phones (one is a LG Chocolate). There's also a built-in spare battery charger and the base will use it as a battery backup in the event of a power loss.
The design is so nice that I look at it as a piece of modern art.
As with all beautiful things, there are some problems you have to live with. Hopefully though, VTech can issue an update for the dismal contacts management, as the previous reviewer mentioned the handsets and base don't share their contacts, you can't transmit contact lists between units, and you can't upload contacts from your PC/Mac. That's a huge backward step, my Siemens from 1999 allowed me to do this, and that was a major selling point for me. I don't have time nor the inclination to manage numerous contact lists!!!!!
If the phones would use voice dialing from the cell phone's contact list, that would be a help, but they don't do that either. This really s***s!

Disappointing, but I still like it

I bought this phone system for the Bluetooth technology, as I decided to do away with my hard wire telephone line. Both my wife and I have connected our cell phones to this device.
Vtech should have incorporated the fundamentals of cell phone usage into the functionality of this product.
For instance, while the Vtech has phonebook capability it doesn’t use the Bluetooth technology to either access your cell phonebook or download it into the Vtech system base unit. You have to add your contacts manually.
To make things worse, the expandable handsets don’t access the phonebook that you create at the base station. Each hand set has its own phonebook and you have to enter them separately as well.
The Bluetooth initial pairing is pretty easy, but maintenance takes getting used to and your cell phone capability will have a big impact on how well this system works. Especially, the daily connect when you return home.
For instance, my blackberry will connect automatically (but only after I programmed it to), but my wife’s Samsung doesn’t have an auto connect feature so she has to wait for the two devices detect each other and press OK to a prompt on her cell phone.
If you get impatient and try to connect and reconnect to frequently it stops working and then you have to unplug the unit to let it recycle itself.
Overall I’m happy with the phone, just having Bluetooth capability to send and receive calls on a regular phone is great, not to mention a big savings by no longer having a land line, even though you can have both on the system.

Lord Help Me When Friends Start Changing Numbers

I've had this phone with 6 handsets for about 3 weeks now and It is amazing to have all numbers (home and cell phones for both my wife and I ) on one centralized device. It's worked almost perfectly since setup with the exception one big factor - Input/Output ...
You see, each handset + the base stores 100 contacts but it's not possible to import or export any contact between any of the handsets or any other device. For me this means that my 80+ contacts have to be entered 6 times plus 1 more time if I want it on the base. And if anything happens, like a set dies or I get a new set, it will have to be entered again - all 87 contacts.
I had my brothers and sisters help me over thanksgiving entering this number and believe me, we got only 3 handsets done so far ... It's a very big problem that may leave me with only one choice - possible return.
This is quite unbelievable as vtech's previous model (I5871) was able to import contacts exported from outlook and also transfer contacts between handsets.
To summarize, this phone is loaded, has clear reception and easy to use; but the decision on vtech's part to leave out a crucial feature that's available on $40 multi-handset phone systems leaves customers with a big decision to make. I'm looking forward to see what others have to say about the phone.

Best phone I could find

This is one awesome phone. I have had none of the problems with clarity that the other folks have mentioned. I have had very few times where the cell phone didn't automatically connect when I got within range, and those times (two that I recall) were times that I had just gotten out of my car which has bluetooth connectivity with my phone as well. . Phone looks awesome and works as decribed. It's clarity is better than any other cordless I have had (and I have had a bunch). The blue "charging" light is neat looking but is pretty bright for a bedroom. I just simply pull the phone off the charger when going to sleep and put it back in the charger when I get ready for work. This phone's weakenesses are very few. Everyone posting has beat the dead horse of this phone's inability to share phone books between extensions or convert from your cell phone, etc... so I won't waste time going into that. Other issue I have had is when you are scrolling through your CID log on a handset, the CID still shows a message available for the caller that originally left a message, even if this message has been erased. It would be nice if the CID log updated itself with the fact that there is no longer a message available once it has been deleted. Even though the CID log will show the message still exists, the "message" alert on the main display however will go away once the message is erased. So all in all this is a relatively petty issue that is not that big of a deal to me. No better phone on the market, and I did extensive research.

Best Cordless Phone

This is the best cordless phone out there for the money. Has everything you could want in a home phone, full color screen, customizable ring tones and wallpaper, 5.8Ghz, bluetooth. I no longer have interference from my wireless routers running at the same 2.4Ghz as my old cordless.
I wasn't really looking at the bluetooth option so much, but it is really cool for my wife and i to be using the home phone handsets while talking to 2 different people via our cells.
Color ascreens rocks. You don't see other cordless phones with full color screens. Our friends are always impressed with the phone.
I have had absolutley no problems with the phone at all. The speaker quality is sweet and the speaker phone works great. Since we use this as out home phone and put it back in the cradle when we are done, charging is not an issue. I have many cordless phones, Sony, panasonic, ATT and this is buy far the best phone. It does eveything you could want and then some.

Great Design, Important Features Left Out

I liked the design of this phone from the moment I saw it in the store, the packaging is also very high end. The phone is easy to set up and install and the little screen was sharper and brighter than I expected. I have no complaints about the performance which is at a par with other V-Tech cordless phones.
The reason I bought this expensive unit was the promise of a bluetooth headphone capability. I own a set of cordless V-Tech phones and the feature I use the most is the fact that you can connect a headphone to them. Being able to use a bluetooth headphone was a major selling point to me besides the design,
V-Tech "forgot" to be specific in the description of the phone and on its manual, that bluetooth pairing with a headphone only works with the base and the range is only about 12 feet, basically of no use to me.
On my old V-Tech phone which also has a color screen, although not as sharp as this one, there is a mini-USB connector so I can download pictures of my family to use as "caller ID" so my small children will know who is calling. On this phone, you have a limited number of pictures preloaded at the factory and no possibility of loading custom ones. I got three units and not having phonebook sharing is a major drawback since keying in 60+ contacts three times is not my idea of convenience.
I would be willing to overlook these shortcomings on a cheaper phone but at over $300 for two units and the base, I can not overlook the cost cutting measures V-Tech took such as not including a headphone jack on the handset.
I returned the phones and I put my old ones back in service.

Love this phone

I really like this phone. I have owned this phone for over a year now and it still works the same as the day I bought it. Very easy to set up, and holds a lot of phone numbers. The various ring tones are a great way to know who is calling without having to look at the caller id. You can also use the various pictures to alert you to who is calling as well. The speaker phone is great on the handsets. I have a four year old son that loves to talk to Nana and I always put it on speaker for him. As with all children they don't always talk into the phone so with the speaker turned on I can clarify what my Mom misses in thier conversations. For the price this phone is well worth it lots of added features you can't find on other home phones, ie. bluetooth, connect two cell phones, speaker handsets, ringtones, and pictures. This phone is well worth the price.

I truly love my phone. It gets "alot" of attn. When company comes over. They really like the phone, they think its "bad" because you can record your own music for the ring tone, more than 5 different songs and you can put a diff. song for a specific person. Also has a future of animated screen savers. blue tooth useage. so i like it. Mainly because its a unique looking phone. =) ............... The thing that i was dissapointed with was the speaker on the back of the phone it blows out too fast.(Good thing for warrenties, Make sure you buy it, if available) and also the buttons on the base are to small, so if you use the base to make a phone call you'll often mis-dial (i rearly use it), but besides all that, its a cool phone, I love it. I enjoy listening to my jamez when people call! =}
