A: The unit contains 2 6TB drives. When you access it from your computer you only see 6TB. Internally the unit takes everything you write to the 6TB and "mirrors" it to the second drive. That is the way RAID1 works. This way if either drive fails, you have a copy.
A: It's hardwired using an Ethernet port, however once it's connected and setup it's accessible through WiFi and across the Internet. You can connect to it from within your wifi network or across the Internet if away from your wifi network. It's compatible with iOS, Android and Windows and MacOS using Western Digital's apps.

Q: what is the input voltage? can work with 220v?
A: The drive I bought (in the U.S.) comes with a 120v adaptor. The actual drive has a DC input, so it may be possible WD has an equivalent adaptor for the European market that would work on 220v.

A: Short answer: Yes. You create a login for the drive and act as "administrator" for your cloud drive. You can then create a separate folder and give access to that folder to an individual (or more) and they (and you) are the only ones able to access that folder. I went on a trip to France with a group and took a LOT of pics I wanted to share. I had the original pics in MY folder, then created a shared folder and copied them into that. I could then give read or edit access to the shared folder so others could contribute pics while still protecting my originals. I had several individual (email IDs) for that folder, but you could create a folder and only provide ONE email access to it (although, as the administrator for the drive, YOU would also have access.)
