This has become my favorite movie ever!
Easily the cutest sweetest most hilarious movie I've seen in a long time.
No spoilers here, just praise. Watch this movie, buy this movie, love this movie. You will love and quote this movie for the rest of your life. I would say more, but its time to do my bloody dishes!!!
Was looking for some movies to keep me busy while recovering from surgery, and came across this in the new release section. Usually, being a movie nut, I tend to be aware of most movies released or being released in my favorite genres... That wasn't the case with "What We do in the Shadows". Reading all the awards, stellar reviews, and synopsis on the box left me intrigued. Taking a quick look online, where the movie sat at a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9/10 on imdb, I took a chance, and boy, was I glad I did. WWDITS blends smart humor, wit, and base comedy together in what can only be described as excellent. In many ways, it reminds me of much of Monty Python in the way it borrows from the many aspects of humor and somehow blends it into a perfect film. The premise is simple: a film crew is making a documentary based on a household of vampires ranging in age from 8,000 years old to 400. It follows their daily routines as they still have a hard time grasping the concepts of the modern age. Ranging in dilemmas from technology, to werewolves, to how to get into clubs without expressed invitation, WWDITS is everything Dark Shadows (the movie) wished it could have been. Quite honestly, while it would seem it would have a niche fanbase (vampire lovers) the comedy is pretty universal, and everyone should give this at least one viewing.
***WARNING*** there are a couple scenes that are a bit... bloody, (although played for humor) and may be a bit much for some viewers, but even for those that are a bit squeamish, the scenes are rare and mostly brief. Best comedy I've seen in a long time.
