  • Key Specs
    • Storage Capacity: 6000 gigabytes (Measured in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB) and terabytes (TB), this is the amount available for storing files, music, movies, photos and more. The total includes the capacity of the hard disk drive and solid state drive if both are included on the computer.)
    • Storage Drive Type: HDD (Traditional, mechanical hard disk drives are the most common type of storage because they're relatively inexpensive and offer huge capacities. However, they also generate both noise and heat. Solid state drives, also known as SSDs, are many times faster than hard disk drives and have no moving parts to wear out, but typically offer less capacity for the same price.)
    • Rotational Speed: 5700 revolutions per minute (The rate at which the hard drive spins its platters. The higher the rotational speed, the faster the drive can read and write data.)
    • Maximum Read Speed: 175 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can read information; for example, opening files.)
    • Maximum Write Speed: 175 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can write information; for example, saving files.)
    • Form Factor: 3.5 in.
    • Interface(s): SATA (Refers to the types of connections that devices use to interact and communicate with each other.)

Q: Can you buy enclosures for these and use them as external backup drives?

A: Hi TheRealPapaDan, WD Red Plus is ideal for archiving and sharing, as well as RAID array rebuilding on systems using ZFS and other file systems. Built and tested for up to 8-bay NAS systems, these drives give you the flexibility, versatility, and confidence in storing and sharing your precious home and work files. Unlike desktop drives, these drives are specifically tested for compatibility with NAS systems for optimum performance. Q: Are these drives "NEW". Just had to return the same drives purchased through Amazon which arrived as "Used - Like New".

A: Hello, Please be informed that if you are facing any issue with the drives and just purchased the drive then you should be able to return it to the place of purchase. However, if you are past their return policy, you can create an RMA through WD and replace the drive under warranty if necessary. Q: I would like to use these to replace 2 older 6 TB drives in a MyCloud DL2100 NAS. 1. Are they compatible? 2. Existing data is RAID1 - can I replace one drive, allow the RAID to rebuild itself, and then replace the second drive?

A: 1. Should be compatible since this drive is SATA III - naschart.com says: Western Digital My Cloud DL2100 supports RAID configurations. Disk bays: 2 x 3.5" SATA III 2. That's exactly how RAID 1 (mirrored) configurations are supposed to work

Q: What SATA generation is this? (Thank you)

A: The box says 6 Gb/s making it SATA III

Q: Would be super helpful to know the amp draw
