12 STRONG is a "Strong Film"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't buy this for the BLUE-RAY. I don't own a Blue-Ray Player! Best Buy was out of stock of the regular DVD-only copy, but I bought this one because it has a separate +DVD disc, too! (And a free digital download copy, too.) Now, on to the review of the movie, "12 STRONG!" Although the opening 1/2-hour is a boring, standard plot / explanation of how these soldiers got sent over to Afghanistan, it is a very necessary 1/2 hour. It's like other films in this genre: e.g., 1. "We Were Soldiers," (Mel Gibson); e.g., 2. "Hacksaw Ridge" (2016), (Andrew Garfield); e.g., 3. "Fury," (Brad Pitt); and e.g., 4. "Saving Private Ryan" (directed by Steven Spielberg) -- the "initial 1/2-hour+" development of the story is very necessary,... BUT, these earlier films first 1/2-hours were done much more EXPERTLY and engagingly! -- By better Oscar-winning Directors! TWELVE (12) STRONG's director, Nicolai Fuglsig, does start doing a pretty good job once these 12 "Horse-Soldiers" are in Afghanistan. And, the GREATEST pleasure is watching the actors do their craft! I'm talking especially about Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon and Michael Pena! That's why I bought this movie having seen it in theaters twice. They perform the very attention-holding action scenes with aplomb, humor, and believability. If you're a fan of these three actors -- they are excellent at these roles! It's AWESOME watching these modern-day American "HORSE-SOLDIERS" deal with modern-day Afghanistan warfare. This ain't no "Wild-West Calvary Horse-Riding" soldiers' film about fighting Indians to"tame" the Western United States!!

Great saga of 12 Army Ranger who made a differenc!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Army gets its straight and sends their most experienced Special Forces Ranger Team to Afghanistan immediately after the destruction of the World Tower Buildings 2001 to right the wrong of 9/11. They talk-the-talk, walk-the-walk and distinguished themselves during their Afghan mission. The equipment was correct as are their combat uniforms and fighting procedures – it’s all about the realism of the saga. This is a story of 12 dedicated Rangers “who made a difference,” their rigged isolation and stunning beauty of the Afghan mountain terrain. The film is a unique combination of great- story telling, fine-acting, over-the-top cinematography, highly realistic sound-effects and ATMOS treatment that enhanced the action of each scene and put the audience in the middle of it all. At the end note the “Horse Soldier Monument” at the New World Tower plaza just outside the New Tower.

Excellent Presentation of a Sadly Unknown Story
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great story that, for reasons completely beyond me, has been entirely ignored. It deals with the initial response to the post 9/11 war on terror and the accompanying insertion into Afghanistan directly. It shows exactly what US forces were up against, not only in terms of logistics but also dealing with locals and trying to create a unified front not only for the US but for the long suffering people in the countryside. Very well cast with Chris Hemsworth in the lead role. Great, fast paced battle sequences that carry on and expand further the standards initiated by Saving Private Ryan.

OUTSTANDING!!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was completely unaware of this U.S. military special operation that transpired almost immediately after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This movie in my opinion was an outstanding portrayal of the U.S. military paired up along with some of Afghanistan's local national militias. The events in this movie we're supposedly classified for several years which is why this movie had just recently been released. As for the film 12-Strong itself I thought it was well done, full of action and in general an all around fascinating story brought to life on the big screen. My only complaint is that there for some odd reason no 4K-HDR BluRay version. But that is all I have regarding any cons for this movie. It's in my opinion worth owning....

I remember the day...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The day the Secretary of Defense made the speech about the 12 men that engaged in one of the most successful, dangerous, and seriously outnumbered, overwhelmed, against the odds type situation Ive yet seen (on film). It’s brilliantly how the film tells the story of the heroics these guys did serving under conditions I’m familiar with. I also love that they were able to do this without showing so much of the darkest parts of war, yet you understand the brutality, intensness and vitality of such missions! God Bless the Men who really conducted this mission. Its worth owning this film period!
