Excellent mid-grade bookshelf pair
Posted .Everyone has their own taste in sound, but I love my pair of Insignia bookshelf speakers made in China for Best Buy!

They do better than more expensive brands
||Posted .Good sound but the tweeter is a bit to high pitched. More of a sharp hiss instead of separating cymbals and mid range sounds like bongos, and steel drums and guitars are really screaming high pitched with no range. But for $50 dollars and mixed with a subwoofer and center speaker you can get them to blend well. I only listen in stereo but and a center speaker and subwoofer and play in all channel stereo on my amplifier and it works. If your not and audiophile and just want some better bass and sound for you home theater then these will do the job. I recommend to an older age group as younger people will hear the flaws in the highs. My parents think they sound great in their home.

Awesome for Starter Home Theatre System
||Posted .I purchased these speakers hastily one day as my current system decided to just give up. Not wanting to spend much money and having not been able to do any research I purchased these Insignia speakers which were on sale. Installation was simple and straightforward and the quality of the speakers is wonderful. Obviously if you want to sound like a state of the art cinema then you will have to pay much much more money but for a starter system or even a mid-level home entertainment system, these Insignia speakers do the trick. Very clear in their output.

Very nice sound from bookshelf speakers
||Posted .Bought these because I had sold my old speakers, and needed something to play my stereo through. I was surprised with the sound quality at the price. I use them mostly to listen to FM stereo radio and they really do a fine job. No complaints, and I haven't noticed any distortion when I have cranked them a little. I haven't pushed them real hard, but they do a good job for my personal listening tastes.

great speakers
||Posted .I love these speakers. I have another set of Insignia speakers that I've had for years and the sound is great. I had read good reports years ago on an AV forum about how good they were and were as good or better than many other more expensive and well-known speakers, and they sure were, so when I needed another set--no question. And these speakers are just as good.

Better than most on the shelf
||Posted .For the price on sale these can't be beat. They are one of the only speakers you can get for under $100 with a crossover. They are even better than the Polks. The are very detailed and pretty bright sounding but a little lacking in bass. I eventually upgrade to the Pioneer BS22 which are warmer and have more bass but I always recommend these to people when they're on sale. I'm using them in my kitchen now and they still surprise me.

Surprised ? YES !!
||Posted .We picked these up for my sons garage and frankly did not expect a whole lot sans the price. We fired up the old Denon amp and these babies came to life. We were stoked by the awesome sound of these things especially since we are both audiophiles. These are perfect for a small room, bedroom, etc. Your teenager will love them too when paired with an inexpensive receiver or amp hooked to their pads. Spotify sounded great also. These are worth more than they cost and I love what they deliver for the bucks. Sound this good has never been this cheap !!!

Great Bookshelf Speakers
||Posted .For the price these Insignia's are amazing set of speakers, i can't believe how good these sounded with my Yamaha Stereo receiver, these speakers produce very detailed sound and MID-RANGE is what these speakers will produce for you with exceptional quality with decent Bass output (don't expect much from a 5.25 inch speaker), you definitely would need to add a Sub-woofer if you really want some good amount of BASS. Very good speakers and i am extremely happy with the purchase.

Q: QuestionWill a banana plug fit? Will a banana plug fit in the back of these speakers? If not which ones will? I don't want to buy regular speaker wire. I'd rather buy wire that already has a hookup at the end of it. Thank you.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, it will accept bare wire, bananas, or spades. Great little speakers too.

Q: QuestionAre the Insignia NS-SP2133 speakers magnetically shielded. Can they be used next to a PC and monitor?
Asked by micro.
- A:Answer Nothing in the specifications or user's guide says they are, so I seriously doubt it. But unless you're using an old CRT monitor, where you position the speakers relative to the monitor is utterly irrelevant - LCD displays aren't affected by magnetic fields. (And anyway, magnetic fields don't "damage" CRT monitors, so if by some truly wild chance you're still using one of those and it does cause the display to distort, you could always just move the speaker until the effect stops.) As for positioning it near a PC, don't worry about that either. The whole idea that ordinary magnetic fields will erase or corrupt data on hard drives is basically an urban myth, albeit one at least based in "fact" (of a sort). It would take a VERY strong magnetic field to affect a computer hard drive (and if you have an SSD, it would be, again, utterly irrelevant). And when I say "very strong magnetic field," I mean nothing short of what you might have to worry about if you' were trying to use a laptop with a mechanical HD while having an MRI taken<lol>, or if you lived or worked next door to a high energy particle accelerator. (That's a joke, of course...)
