Great Songs, Sub-Par Production
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a grab bag from No Idea Records about a year ago and found myself puzzled by the self-titled Glass & Ashes album. It wasn't my normal style of punk and I really didn't know what to make of the jarring hardcore, but the melody was evident and after a second listen I was hooked. Really hooked. So I finally picked up their first album, Aesthetic Arrest, and it's about 70% as good at best. Unfortunately these two albums are all they left us with. These songs are great, but the production is muddy compared to the amazing sound on the s/t. Also there's confusion with the track-listing as "Off The Piranha" is split into two tracks - something I wish was clarified a bit better.
