A: The Arlo SmartHub VMB5000 is compatible with the following Arlo products: Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, Essential wire-free, Pro 3, Pro 3 Floodlight Camera, Pro 2, Pro, Wire-Free, Video Doorbell, and Audio Doorbell. ^KN
A: There are 2 power charging options: (1) Arlo Solar Panel Charger, (2) Outdoor Magnetic Charging Cable (25 ft). The solar panel has a built-in magnetic cable. The magnetic connection is on the bottom of each Ultra camera. Note: battery installation is still required but you won't need to remove them to for charging
A: So many good questions and here are your answers: 1. Yes and no with the HDMI connection. Not a direct HDMI connection to the monitor from the base station, but through your desktop or laptop via online account connection. 2. Each camera will need it's own power source as the Arlo branded solar panel or extended magnetized power cord only has one charging connector. 3. Battery life is dependent on activation usage. Mine varies from 3 to 6 months depending on how often the motion sensor is activated and records, whether I have it activate spot light and siren or talk through it. It is dependent on usage. Your usage amount might be different from mine to the next person. I have a condo in the city that I haven't been back for a few months due to the high infection rate. My batteries will last about 6 months with about once every two week motion activation as the doorman delivers my mail and packages to my front foyer 5 minutes activation and spot lights per occurrence. My housekeeper once every three weeks for an hour to dust and maintain place, Occasional checking the place and panning around once after my housekeeper leaves for about a minute or two. So, not a lot of daily usage for my batteries to last at least 6 months before another charge. Hope this help. My suggestion would be before considering solar panels or wired connections, try using the system for a month and see how much battery life you have from your app. from your usage.
Q: Is there a monthly fee for the system?
A: No. You do not have to have a monthly subscription. The system does come with a 3 month trial to Arlo Secure. Arlo Secure gets you 30 day storage up to 4k resolution and emergency response. If you don't have any subscription you are limited to a 7 day storage and I believe up to 2k resolution. I have attached a comparison of 3 Arlo plans.
Q: How far can the camera be from the base station and still transmit a clear signal?
A: You can place your Arlo camera a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station. The following materials reduce signal strength the most: Large quantities of water, such as the water in a fish tank or water heater Metal Glass, especially mirrors Ceramic Stone Concrete Brick Unusually thick walls and ceilings
A: The operating temperatures for Arlo Ultra 2 are: -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C). The Arlo Ultra 2 cameras work in a wide variety of weather conditions, including sun, wind, rain, and snow.^KN
A: The Ultra 2 does need a smarthub or base station to operate. However, once paired to a base station all devices can be managed through the Arlo app.
Q: The Arlo Ultra 2 support 1 TB Sd card and loop recording? Thanks.
A: I had the same question and Arlo support states, the base station VMB5000 supports micro-SD cards up to 256GB

Cameras show a really clear picture. They were easy to mount. Only downside is battery life. I find myself charging them every 3 weeks or so. Much sooner than I anticipated. The Arlo app is easier to navigate and has more security features than Ring. The night vision camera is both color and black & white. You can zoom in live or in past clipped videos. Long wifi range.

Incredibly good cameras but app is laggy in term of software and hardware issues within Arlo products, server, etc.. and not because of my iPhone 15 Pro Max’s hardware are weak It will be great if my system does not rely on Arlo at all but my base station and cameras are one system disconnected from arlo but connected to my wifi so it is perfectly independent of Arlo. I got 4 cameras for an incredibly good deal!!! I gave four stars so they are forced to keep on improving so struggling customers can have good experiences and enjoy good products!!! Over all I would give their products 5 stars but because the app is laggy in term of devices communicating with each other wirelessly etc.. they are always a few seconds behind. I have ATT Fiber so weak internet connection isn’t the problem. Their products have everything that I was looking for!!! Very easy to set up and install!!!! I love the charger a lot!!! I love how I can take out the batteries and charge them or charge them through wires!!! Also, Arlo needs to make it easy for customers to use third party products with Arlo systems like solar panels etc… I love the anti-theft lock and unlock feature to take out the batteries etc… Very thoughtful products but they can still be improved a lot and in so many areas!

Where to begin. I had high expectations for this. A security camera that you might be able to see detail from. I currently also use Ring and Blink. Arlo has been the worst experience compared to the other 2,( Ring also has been pretty annoying.. but that is not for this review...) using the app and maintaining the connection. It has been a drag to open the app, just to see, once again, my devices are not connected. As I reconnect them, and randomly it seems, it doesn't even recognize me and makes me log in again. Video quality, nice if you like a daily does of Green Screen - it seems at least once a day I'll get a video of Green, no idea why. They tell you to keep the top 1/6th portion of the recording area not part of the trigger area, so imagine you might want to not get a trigger on something to the left or right - nope, can't have that. Zoom in to the action they say, touchy touchy -cannot do that reliably. Video recognition - according to Arlo a mouse detected is actually a person. The sensitivity adjustment of the camera might as well be removed it's either everything or not much. A car going past the camera on the driveway, actually coming towards the camera, is perfect to catch the taillights of the car passing by the time the camera activates, this with sensitivity at 100. However, now every single time the wind blows a branch or leaves the camera goes on seconds after the event, so pick and choose, no battery life and all motion detected although 2 seconds late, no motion detected, boy, that battery life is great. Ugh. Scrub through the time or reverse sometimes works, or it will just switch to the next video in your list as you try to scroll. Power goes out? You're done, no more recording. I had a massive tree fall feet in front of Arlo and take out my power line in the process, I might have figured it would've recorded the falling part at least, before the power was cut. Nope. The other day, I got a video of nothing that I could see moving that lasted for 5 minutes long. It happened twice. As the set up goes, the 'anti theft mount' that you can just unscrew from the tension base, it's true, you wouldn't likely steal the mount, just the camera. The battery life, short, and don't you dare put the camera where you would only be able to access it with a ladder, you're going to be pulling out that ladder every 10 days or so. I bought the solar charger, Im not convinced Im going to even bother setting it up. Signal strength indicator goes from Strong, poor, ok, weak, strong, no signal in an area that is literally half the distance that Blink is at and connected to perfectly ( and those batteries have lasted for months ). Cost for connection- clearly in comparing the $250 something camera to $80 ish camera- connection isn't that important to Arlo. Subscription service for the recordings, I'm glad as of now that my service is still included, why charge for saving my bushes blowing and green screens.
