Q: How can I add more RAM from 6gb to 12 gb
A: Easiest method: go to Crucial.com. Download the system scanner. Select the 8GB (not two 4GB; a single 8GB) SODIMM recommended by Crucial. Order. Pay. Wait for the mail to deliver. Go to YouTube and search for "adding RAM to Asus laptop"; find one that closely resembles the Q304UA. You remove the screws from the back (keep track which goes where; they are different sized) and use a spudger to work the bottom plastic cover loose. Pop it off and find what looks like a rectangular chrome box that sticks up about 1/4 of an inch. Use a pair of precision pliers or forceps (I used a hemostat) to CAREFULLY pull up the tabs and remove the cover. There will be a piece of grey tape on the 2GB RAM stick already installed; CAREFULLY peel it back. There are two spring-loaded clamps on the side of the RAM stick installed; pull them slightly out and they'll spring out. When both have "sprung" the RAM should "pop up" slightly. CAREFULLY pull it out noting the notch on the bottom of the RAM stick. Take your new one, match the notch with the slot, push it in until it "clicks" and the spring-loaded clamps should hold it in place. Reapply the tape cover, then the chrome cover (CAREFULLY push the tabs back in to the board). Put the cover back on, put the screws back in, turn it on. 12GB!
Q: Why you always make this computer expensive?
A: For the value, it's not that expensive. Have you priced laptops lately? This computer is powerful and pretty fast. Anything less costly is not worth spending your money on, given the memory and hard drive space.
Q: Can you put Microsoft office on this computer? If so which one did you put on?
A: Yes you can. I prefer the home and student office package. It's about $120 cheaper then the professional office and has all you need. Stay away from the 365 office.
Q: Is the hard drive solid state? I was told that solid state hard drives do not give off heat.
A: No the hard drive that comes with it is HDD like everyone else says. If you wanna put a SSD in it, I made a guide on how to do so when I went in and replaced my own. The link will [hopefully] pop up below https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/comments/6lpxpk/asus_q304ua_laptop_hard_drive_replacement/
Q: Is windows 10 already loaded onto the device? Or do I have to download it?
A: The Windows 10 OS is already installed on this model unit. You don't need to download it anymore.
Q: Does this computer have a camera? for skyping?
A: This computer has a camera.
Q: How do you create a recovery disk on this laptop. What size is the recovery disk?
A: The best way I have found is by creating a Windows Image. Don't create a recovery Disk. Action Center>Windows Settings>(Search for "File History")>Select "Restore your files with File History">Configure File History Settings>System Image Back up>Create a system image. Select your external Drive (or a different drive other than the OS/ C: drive) and finish the process. When you want to restore, Just hold shift while restarting your PC. It will boot into recovery. you can then restore from System image and it will restore your image to the one you created. (Do this once you have everything on Windows set up exactly how you want it.)
