Best Portable Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is literally the best portable gaming laptop setup in my opinion. I love to use this in tent mode using my Bluetooth Kemove mechanical keyboard, and a wireless Razor mouse. Feel like playing on something bigger? You can hook this up to a external monitor and it will still power most games on max settings (depending how big how your monitor is as ultrawide 38"+ might be a problem on ultra settings). Plugging/removing the XG Mobile is seamless and easy. Overall, I am very happy with this laptop. This is a niche product, so this might not be for everyone.

Best Portable PC Gaming Solution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply the best mobile PC gaming solution I can think of. I've waited years for a solution like this. I can't wait to see how this product line evolves over time. Count me in!

Good Computer, Some Reliability Concerns
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There was a lot I really liked about this computer. The form factor and performance are both excellent. I also really liked the keyboard. For those who don't like a 4K screen at this size, you can set the resolution down to 1080P, that is how I used it and it performs very well. For those who need more battery life at times, you can play around with the power settings and extend the life a decent amount. Unfortunately my unit appeared to be used when it arrived (some minor damage) and the external gpu seemed to die after several weeks. Fortunately I was able to return without any issue (still within the return window), when those issues did arise.

Great Gaming Tablet PC, Poor (or Great) Item Title
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fastest thin and light convertible Tablet PC. Literally has 3 GPU options, built in AMD iGPU, discrete internal NVidia GTX 1650, AND an external docking station that just happens to have an NVidia RTX 3080. Rocking in at over $3K, it might come as a shock, since it's listed as having GTX 1650. Nowhere in the item title does it list that it comes with the XG Mobile RTX 3080 external GPU dock. You have to scroll way down into the specs to see that it's included. Really poor item description on Best Buy's part. Or is it? Hear me out. I bought this gaming laptop in 2021 where it's nearly impossible to buy a high end graphics card. But since Best Buy buried the words RTX 3080 deep in the specs list, I'm guessing it doesn't get a lot of attention or get easily flagged by scalping bots. So either very careless of Best Buy OR, extremely clever. This laptop was so much easier to buy, as it remains in stock for a very long time when it's back up for sale, unlike other GPU's and gaming laptops, which are gone within milliseconds. As for the laptop? It is the fastest thin and light I've ever used. Doesn't get hot at all with normal use, and is very quiet. But when it needs to, the fans do crank up a lot when you really hammer the CPU and internal GPU. But the fan noise is definitely not as annoying as some whiny, high pitched turbo fan sounds from many Lenovo laptops I've used. The XG Mobile eGPU with RTX 3080 is the real draw here. It's roughly equivalent to a desktop 3070, but for it's size, it's amazing. I love that you don't even need to use the USB-C power brick, as it has power supply built in. Both Laptop and eGPU weigh 5lbs together. Laptop is 2.8lbs, eGPU is 2.2lbs. eGPU puts out some serious heat, though, I wish they had aimed the vent backwards, rather than the same direction as the cable. The Cable is not long enough to allow you to easily place it so that it's not blowing hot air into your face or at the computer. Internally, the RAM is soldered, which isn't a huge deal as this one comes with 32GB. But the tiny NVME SSD is kind of a headscratcher. Sure it's upgradeable, but the shortest stick config for M.2 is rare. I really think they could've fit a longer stick format there. Other downside is the Pen. Oh wait. Did you know there's a pen included? Neither did I, until I opened up the packaging. Another thing not listed in the item title. Unfortunately is NTrig, old school Microsoft surface type digitizer. I tried Wacom AES 2.0 pen, and they do not work. But NTrig is better than nothing. Last gripe, the LCD. 4K on a 13" screen is ridiculous overkill. They really should've fit a 1440P screen with 90-120Hz instead. Overall, THE most powerful convertible laptop with one of the most powerful mobile GPU's. Dream machine that does nearly everything, but with a very expensive price tag.

So you wana be a beta tester, eh?
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't help but feel like a beta tester. By itself, the laptop is awesome. But for $3,300....Its clunky to use in combination with the XG dock. I wonder why Asus didnt go with Intel/thunderbolt option, but rather this proprietary plug that is only compatible with these 2 units? I would gladly buy the XG dock separately, if it was compatible with other laptops. I don't have a lot of confidence that Asus will further develop this model or eve use the same plug, thus making the XG dock obsolete in 1 year. At least with other eGPUs you can upgrade the GPU when new models are out

Small and powerful!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop to use as both an everyday and a CAD computer and honestly it does both of those well. When I am viewing a pdf, I can use it as a tablet and treat it like an iPad, and when I am doing more traditional tasks like Solid Works or word processing, the keyboard ends up being nice to type on. the trackpad and the touch screen are precise and the lcd looks incredible. My only negative (if I had to find one) is that it can get pretty warm, but it is not painful and that to me is an okay tradeoff for the elevated level of processing power in this small of a package. The docking station connects easily and only takes a moment to connect and boosts performance significantly. Overall if you are looking for a powerful yet very portable computer, I would highly recommend this one.

Good Concept but with caveats...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For now i am giving it a 3 out 5 stars. Reason is that the internal GPU (1650) card was faulty and would not show up in device manager or on the Nvidia app saying no graphics card detected. I went to the Asus support chat and they gave me a work around and that didn't work - I had to completely re-install windows and the driver showed up, The other is the external GPU be careful when un plugging it after your tell the computer to detach, When i did this there are two clamps on GPU adaptor (going to the computer) you have to really push in to get it out and sometimes that doesnt work and it ended up bending the two clamps and it made it hard to put back in. I did return it and i hope this one doesnt have that many issues, Once i get the new device and it doesnt repeat what happened i would give this a 5 out 5 As for gaming on both the 1650 and the 3080 it does a great job on AAA titles - now there is the competition with the Razer 14 with a 3070 already built in so you don need to have external device....just sayinng

Broke my heart!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to like this laptop but I've owned it for about 2 weeks now and it's crashed more times than I can count. It kicks me out of games and apps constantly. Folders minimize for no reason. Narrator pulls up randomly. Outlook properties don't show (see pic). I've uninstalled/reinstalled with no remedy. This thing just has issue after issue. It's one of the most expensive laptops on the market and either the quirks are from switching from 2 different GPUs or this is just a dud. FYI...I follow the correct process to connect/disconnect the eGPU. Just disappointing because I travel for work and want a portable gaming rig. I was so excited about this but it's been a flop. This will be returned.

Q: QuestionI have been in contact with BestBuy via their chat service, checked last night (3/7) at 10 PM EDT, the product page still said "Coming soon", checked again this morning at 6 AM and it said "Sold out" - is it some kinda "Hunger Game" marketing/sales game!?

Q: QuestionJust hit midnight in arizona at the time of writing this, March 11th. So, lemme ask, why did the price suddenly jump $300? When they originally listed this at $3000 flat. That seems a bit unfair.
Asked by MajesticSpaceDuck.
- A:Answer It was a price increase across all sites. It seems that they had it as a placeholder connected to the original bundle the non 4k version. If you search around you can find that the 4k version is 3300 on multiple other websites this is to cover the nicer specs. Still lame though that they did it the way they did....

Q: QuestionCan ASUS ROG Flow X13 be sold separately from the eGPU?
Asked by jim.
- A:Answer So far it's only happened on Asus, though it's half the price it is here, at a 16GB Ram configuration instead of 32GB, along with a 5900 instead of a 5980 processor, along with a 1080p 120hz panel instead of the 4k 60hz panel included with this model here. That, and like you're asking for, it doesn't include the eGPU.

Q: QuestionI have been in contact with BestBuy via their chat service, checked last night (3/7) at 10 PM EDT, the product page still said "Coming soon", checked again this morning at 6 AM and it said "Sold out" - asking for awareness. This is INCREDIBLY annoying.
Asked by holmsmonster.
- A:Answer Glad to know I wasn't the only one annoyed by this. See if this'll get enough attention so that way we can know what happened. Because it seems like we were all waiting for this. Keep an eye out on sites like ebay or newegg...I got a bad feeling about this.

Q: QuestionDoes this $2999 bundle include the ROG XG Mobile RTX3080 eGPU?
Asked by Junhan.
- A:Answer Yes. It says so in the description...though it makes me wish they put it up front instead of needing to dig for it
Answered by MajesticSpaceDuck
Q: QuestionDoes ROG Flow X12 have 16 GB RAM soldered to the motherboard? Can it be upgraded to 48 or 64 GB RAM?
Asked by jim.
- A:Answer Currently there are two versions of the ROG Flow X13. Version 1 has a ryzen 5900HS with a 1920x1200 120hz display and 16gb of ram. Version 2 has a ryzen 5980HS with a 3840x2400 60hz display with 32gb of ram. This is a listing for version 2. Both versions come with soldered ram and can not be upgraded.
Answered by Slickink
Q: QuestionDoes this come with another power adapter connection besides the eGPU that comes with it?
Asked by CDJ.
- A:Answer Yes, it comes with a 100W USB-C adapter as well as the eGPU. The eGPU has an internal PSU, so it is self contained, no need for another power brick. But it does use the bulkier desktop IEC type power cable.
