everything I hoped for
||Posted .Read lots of reviews before buying this printer. I'm not all that tech savy and was concerned about getting something I couldn't figure out how to set up and use. I was looking for one that would be easy to set up, would copy and scan documents. I will occasionally print out a photo, but that's not of huge importance to me. I was definitely looking for one that would not break the bank when buying ink cartridge replacements. So far this Brother MFC-J885DW has just been amazing! I was able to set it up in about 30 minutes. It was so easy! The one page easy start sheet tells you exactly what to do and when to put it the CD installer. From there the printer explains everything as you go along. I had absolutely no problems and was able to print from my iphone right off the bat! I've had this printer now for over a month and haven't even had a paper jam! I wish all products worked this well! My first Brother product, but it won't be my last!

Good all around printer
||Posted .I needed a printer that could be used with an iPad and print the occasional photo without my ink disappearing in a few months. I replaced a great HP with a newer model and learned the hard way that newer printers clean themselves constantly. So I used consumer reports to find one that did not and this one fit the bill. Now for the details: For color on plain paper look for some other business printer, this is average at best. Photo quality is pretty good but the photo holder has to be manually set and once set it will only print on photo paper. The tray only holds 20 photos. It is pic bridge compatible and it holds all of your standard memory cards. All in all it serves my purpose. Document print is decent, but I print all of my documents on my Brother MFC-7360N which is an amazing laser printer. If you are constantly printing photos than this is not for you, if you print the occasional photo and need a goof Wi-Fi printer for IOS and android this can't be beat.

This printer is great!
||Posted .My sweetheart bought one similar to this one. she liked it and I needed a printer. So, - - I went to Best Buy and bought one. I also purchased some extra ink and paper. Here are the results. It connected wirelessly to my computer through the router. I have since printed several items for various purposes. So far, (it is very new), it has performed flawlessly! I printed some labels for mailing and they came out perfect! Get one of these. They are better than the Hewlett Packard ones. I have printed Excel, Word and various other documents without a hitch. The copies are crisp and very legible! Can't say enough about it. (Honestly, I have not tried a color picture yet but will soon and I am sure they will be excellent)

Meets my basic needs
||Posted .I wanted a new inkjet for the little bit of color I do. I also occasionally need to have a scanner. HP used to be my go to. The ink cost on this will be better and I suspect they wont dry out as fast(unconfirmed). So far i like it a lot. The document feeder worked well for scanning 15 pages I needed. Lots of features built in. What i dont like. This feels very cheap on the trays and the trays do have limited paper in reserve. I have been a Brother fan for a long time and this is by far the cheapest tray on any brand Ive touched. Its bad because the tray does need to be extended or it drops paper off the device. It meets my needs for a casual user who uses a laser for bw print.

Finally Have a Brother!
||Posted .Very satisfied with the MFC-J885DW, which replaces one made by another manufacturer that I was wishing would break. Set-up started out seamlessly, but I hit a snag when it came to inserting the disk for connecting to wi-fi. (The disc even got stuck in my computer's driver, and was unresponsive. The computer later spit it out.) Downloading installation from the website enabled me to complete this process, but it took longer than anticipated. Perhaps this was because I was looking at the computer screen after inserting the disc, rather than at the printer panel, for instructions. The panel must have advanced to finish mode, by the time I looked. Wireless printing is new to me, and I love it! Two-sided printing is also a real time-saver. The rear tray for card stock, etc. is a great feature. It is expected that the cost of ink will be significantly lower, though time will tell. Also, this model is nicely small compared to others. The print quality is not optimal. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Would not recommend if you must make stunning presentations. I intend to buy better quality paper and see how much of a difference that would make. However, for my purposes it is sufficient as is, especially since all of the other features are a real improvement in my case.

Great product for the price
||Posted .My last printer was a Brother so I decided to stay with what I know works. I have 75,000 plus copies from my original MFC495CW printer which is still working perfectly. This Brother MFC-J885DW was purchased as a backup and so far, it too is working perfectly. The Brother "All-In-One" printers print high quality photos using many types of photo paper. The wireless networking is a snap ... Just plug it in and go. I print from all types of devices… Desktop, notebooks and cell phones. The Brother “All-In-One” Printers receive a 10/10 in my opinion.

Suits my needs, a bit slow
||Posted .I have had this printer for about a month now. I wanted to be able to print, copy, scan and was used to a kodak printer with the lower price INK. The Kodak died so we had to quickly choose a new one. Never had a brother printer before. So far, I like it. Set up was easy enough. Not well experienced in printing from my phone yet so I still need to learn that. The small INK it came with is still in the printer. It seems to be a little slow but it's good. Picture print quality is as good as the Kodak was....Not a great quality but good enough for a quick picture print you need. I kept the box in case I did not like it and wanted to return...but I still have the printer! Pleased with my choice, especially since it was a quick decision purchase.

Great Compact Printer
||Posted .I have been using my Brother MFC-J885DW all-in-one printer for quite some time. It is a compact printer that fits in a very small space. The colors are vibrant, or you can choose black and white from the printer menu, or from your computer print menu. In addition to the slot for 8.5x11 paper there is a smaller slot for 4x6 options. As far as ink goes, this printer seem to go through significantly less ink compared with the HP printers I have always purchased. This printer also lets you continue to print even if one of the ink cartridges is low or empty, unlike every HP that I have had. It will warn you that the ink is low, but you can choose to continue printing (likely not great for the printer, but comes in handy when you just have one or two more pages to go). I really do love HP, but my Mom had a similar Brother. I thought I'd give them a try. Not disappointed at all! I'd give it a 4.5 stars if possible to do here.
