Reasonable price, nice printer, not too large
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of my personal use printer experience has been with HP printers, but after some favorable experiences with Brother printers at work I thought this one would be a good option for the students in our family. Thus far, we have been very satisfied with this Brother Work Smart Series printer. Installation on both a Windows pc and an Apple laptop was a breeze. There is a cd-rom provided for Windows installs, but none is needed for Apple computers. Wireless connectivity was a breeze and we've had no connection issues since. This printer provides some nice features such as the automatic document feeder (20 sheets), duplexer, memory card slot, USB thumb drive port and mobile device printing. It supports AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, Mopria and Wi-Fi Direct (no need for mobile devices to be on same network) and one can use the NFC icon on the printer's control panel to establish a direct wireless connection. There is also Brother's iPrint&Scan that can be used to print attachments from or scanning to a mobile device. We have found the touch screen straight forward and easy to use. Print quality and speed has met our expectation. Photo print quality was also quite good. Color print speeds are listed at 10 ppm and mono print speed is listed at 12ppm. In summary, we've found this printer to be a good option for our family since it takes up limited space, delivers good print quality and speed, offers great mobile connectivity options and more than sufficient features at a good value. This particular model may not be the best option for those with high volume printer needs since there are other Brother models (INKvestment printers) that offer a lower, per page ink cost. However, most students and families should find that this model will suit their needs well. It is also good to know that this Brother printer comes with a two year warranty.

Print from practically anything
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A reasonably priced all in one multi-function inkjet printer. After a few minutes of powering on, installing the ink cartridges and letting it run initial calibration I was able to print from my phone without ever connecting it to my network. With NFC I tapped my phone to the front and it led me straight to the iPrint & Scan app in the app store. Once installed it was easy to scan documents and photos to my phone, print documents or photos and even arrange for a fax, but I don’t have a phone line. Connecting to my wireless network was just as simple and my computers easily found the printer for a quick setup. You can also use USB and wired LAN cables and the ports for those are in the strangest place. You have to lift the scan bed up and run the cables through a channel to connect them. However, this does help keep a low profile for the printer since you can push it flush to the wall. The only time you need to access the back is in a jam situation or if you want to use the single sheet manual feed. The manual feed is convenient if you don’t want to change out the paper in the tray, but it is single sheet only and if you are already tight on space, requires it to be pulled out. Even with all the other devices connected, you can choose to print from services like Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive directly from the printer menu. There are also some other pre-formatted items that you can print like calendars, stationary and certificates. Print quality is not bad and fairly quick, however, it can be better if you change print settings from normal to fine, though it does take longer and more ink. Printing photos is where it made a real difference to me as normal looked a bit faded and washed out while fine had sharper edges and deeper color. It never failed that my kids would come home from school one day and need something random printed, scanned, copied and have it on their phone or laptop. With so many ways to connect to this printer it makes it easy to just get it done, even if the device isn’t on my network.

Love it for family and small work projects
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brother Work Smart Series MFC-J895DW Wireless All-In-One Printer:: I’m placing this printer alongside my other various Brother printers. My experience tells me that these printers outlast, deliver great photos and documents, and continue to prove themselves for years. This Brother printer delivers lots of features with very low stress. SETUP: Brother Printers work nicely with Mac computers and Windows computers. Software loads easily, behaves. and accesses the printer utilities for printer control. [Download or on CD Disc.] <> All printer control features are also available on the printer’s LCD screen, a nice step saver if the computer is in a different room. <> Wi-Fi connection is quick and easy. (There’s also an ethernet port.) The MFC-J895DW also allows printing from mobile devices via WI-Fi Direct, NFC, Apple AirPrint, USB 2.0, MOPRIA, and Google Cloud Print. It even faxes (send/receive). <> Brother toner cartridges are available individually. (B, C, M, Y) in standard (200pgs) and High Yield (400pgs) sizes. They load easily. <> Scanning is accomplished using Brother’s ControlCenter and there’s OCR software included. You can also scan from the printer, using the LCD to manage scanning and sending it to the computer. <> Brother’s online support is very complete and understandable. Brother anticipates many issues and provided useful answers online. PERFORMANCE: I print lots of family photos, so I focus mostly on color performance, where I’m using glossy paper. These are great looking pictures, easily matching what I get from local processors, but giving me the advantage of on-the-fly corrections. High resolution images make colorful and sharp 8x10” photos. Printing is slow for photos, and the Brother is fairly typical. Text pages are very nice looking, very fast, and I have no trouble using them for everyday projects (even though I’d usually switch to my laser printer for B&W, especially for large tasks). It’s an inkjet, so you need to appreciate long-tern costs for replacement cartridges. SUMMARY: The Brother MFC-J895DW is likely to be a very reliable inkjet if my experience holds for this printer generation. Everything about the Brother works. We love it for family or small work projects, with photos being the specialty.

Great performance for everyday use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this Brother - Work Smart Series MFC-J895DW Wireless All-In-One Printer to replace a 5 year old HP 5520. The J895DW is a little smaller than the HP but not by much. It was very easy to get the J895DW connected to our Wi-Fi network in fact much easier than the HP was! Wireless printing from PC desktop, laptop, Android and iPhone worked without any issues. Text prints were sharp and a 4x6 color photo came out pretty good. The paper tray is easy to load since you have to completely remove it from the printer. The touchscreen is way better than the old HP is and very easy to use to. Ink is also very easy to load. Will be interesting to see how long it last? The J895DW is also quiter then the HP. It still makes some noise but the biggest difference is there is very little noise when turning it on and only a simple tone made when turning it off. Overall the J895DW works great for our home printing needs.

So far a nice home printer well done...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The installation instructions start off really nice and detailed enough. The only issue I had was that the link to download the software was not valid. I had to just go to the Brother.com website and get the software from the support pages. Actually once you download the software the installation and usage was one of the easiest I have seen. I also felt the software was easy to use. The ability to connect the printer to your PC using wifi, ethernet, or USB was extremely convenient. I liked how the ink cartridges go in and are managed. I like the footprint of the device and how it does not feel cheap. The software for scanning lets you save or open your docs in a variety of applications. You can even scan from your phone and save using the printer software. Printing was fast and the quality was very nice.

Nice space saving all-in-one
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Brother MFC-J895DW is a nice all-in-one printer with many features. One thing that stood out when I got this printer was how small it was, a perfect fit in my child’s room and would fit nicely into a tight office/work space. This printer runs through ink quickly and the cartridges have a standard yield of 200 pages. Prints quick enough, but bars/lines when were evident when printing solid backgrounds at normal setting. Word document type was fine at normal settings, but areas of black background were not solid black. Features that stand out for me: 150-sheet adjustable paper tray capacity NFC "touch to connect" print & scan 2.7" Color touchscreen Sorting function Mobile connectivity Wireless 802.11 b/g/n, Ethernet, NFC, Wi Fi Direct, and USB 2.0 This is a nice compact printer for someone who does not do heavy printing and does not mind changing cartridges often. It is better suited for specific requirements that utilize scanning and faxing frequently that is space efficient. Build quality is excellent as I have found with past Brother printers that have served me very well.

Great all-in-one printer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this printer after returning a similar, older model Brother color printer, the MFC-J497DW. I'm really glad I opted to pay a little more because this printer is worth it. In a side-by-side comparison, the biggest improvement is the touch screen, which I didn't think would make that much of a difference, but it does. The single touch button option to type in my email address just to send a scan was unbearable. This printer sends a 7 page pdf without issue using the document feeder. The last bit was somewhat of a surprise to me as I didn't purchase this printer for photo printing. I used Canon photo paper and printed a 4x6 photo. The image is beautiful, true to color, and is very high quality. I wouldn't have been able to tell that it came from a personal printer and not a professional photo printer. Overall, very happy with my purchase!

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.+ Setup, pretty EASY overall + CHEAP Price: + TINY footprint, this is a little model that does everything you need for an 8.5x11 It's good for general desktop stuff, and at a price-point that makes it a good buy. But If you are using this printer to print Art images.. think again. I have tried everything to get it to print quality images and it does not. This is a printer for text, articles, etc. NOT for images. Know that.
