Questions & Answers (64)
Q: Will it work while the car is parked and turn off? (3 answers)
A: Hi. Parking Mode will offer some video surveillance while the car is off. However, this feature only works properly if the dash cam is powered. Either the cigarette lighter socket must remain on with the ignition off, or the dash cam must be hardwired to a constant-on power source (use optional hardwire cord CA-MICROUSB-001). I hope this helps!Q: does it have a battery supply (3 answers)
A: There aren't many dashcams that have a battery supply. It functions when the car is on therefore runs off the car battery. If you are concerned about wires - a kit is available to hardwire the cam to the car. If you are going to use the parking feature or surveillance mode it will be necessary to hardwire the unit unless they car chargers work when the vehicle is off. If not an external power source is needed for that functionality.Q: Expandable Memory Compatibility what's the biggest SD card that I could put in it (4 answers)
A: I put a Sandisk 256GB micro SD card in mine and after formatting. it says that I have 24 hours of recording time. so not sure if you can put a 512GB card- A: This camera comes with a 16gb SD card and can record for approximately 2 hours on both front and cabin cameras before recording over. The camera automatically detects impacts and locks recordings in the case of a collision which puts in a separate Locked folder which is not overwritten. You can also press the "Emergency Record" button to lock clips manually from being overwritten. Later you can download the videos using the Drive Smarter app after your drive or by plugging the camera into your computer.
- A: You can get live-alerts from radar and other customers using the Drive Smarter app without a radar detector. Simply connect your SC201 and leave connected to Drive Smarter while you drive.
- A: I am having same issue... I updated firmware btw. I did not want to mount on windshield, instead I mounted on flat part of dash. Power cord now comes out of bottom instead of top (better). Problem is that when it boots up both cameras and screen are inverted upside down. If I slide it out of mount, the internal gyro recognizes this and corrects. I can then slide it back into mount and everything is cool... I should not have to do this everytime it is powered up. The four buttons function is also reversed, I can deal with that but having to correct the gyro everytime it powers up is a deal breaker. Think I will return to best buy and get another brand..
- A: Yes, you are able to manually trigger emergency recordings using the Emergency Record (hazard) button on the camera. It will save the clip before you pressed the button and continue recording after.
