Great computer
|Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I have had for over a year, and it is a great, light computer. My only complaint is that the webcam is on the bottom of the screen so it provides a really awkward view of you, and you can see the keyboard and your fingers in the camera.

Great Replacement for my Macbook Air
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI really liked my 2011 Macbook Air, it served me well for many years. But I knew it reached end of life when I could not upgrade to the latest MacOS. I have not been enthralled with the proprietary nature of Apple's products and the premium they demand so I included a Windows PC in my search for a replacement. I go for high-end when I purchase technology and this laptop is "fully-loaded". I *insist* on SSD drives anymore (otherwise they slow to a crawl after a couple of years) and this one has 1TB, lots of memory at 16GB, the latest Intel processing hardware, and ultra high-def display capability up to 4K. Compared to the Apple counterpart with similar specs (running MacOS), it was $1000 cheaper. Windows 10 is Microsoft's best client-side OS yet, and it is FAST. I do photography and music (I'm a musician in my spare time) and I never used Apple's proprietary products, so I am able to use the Windows version with no problem. I had to relearn some of the finer points of the Windows User Experience (UX) but I was good after a couple of weeks. This is an outstanding laptop, meets my needs, and I saved $1K over the Apple counterpart.

Nice laptop great for travelers
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI travel extensively so I need a laptop I could charge with a dc car charger. (It has USB C PD specs) This fits the bill I bought a car charger that charges my Pixel 2 and this laptop. Be careful with your USB C choices because there are many bad products on the market now, and all cords and chargers do not give the same data and charging speeds. I looked for IF USB C certified products. The car charging worked well with no power errors. I wanted this laptop for Photoshop and Lightroom, I am not a gamer. The laptop will run both programs without issue. If you are a travelling photographer this works well. I had to return a Zen book because the power demands were too great for car chargers. Do your homework on USB C this does not have a lot of ports so you will need some dongles, you may not get the right data speeds or charging if you are not paying attention to the specs.

Great Computer
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBought one from another vendor when it was cheaper there and then bought another one to gift to my father in-law when it was cheaper at Best Buy but ended up returning this one for a Samsung 2 N 1 for him instead. I lost my XPS during a trip after only 1 month of use so can't attest to the quality/long term. I read many reviews of the over heating, wifi connection problem, and also the fan noise. 1. WiFi - Worked perfectly after all updates were installed, no dropped connections etc like others were reporting before but I did get the new firmware update. 2. Overheating - Was fine and did the job w/o being too hot to touch 3. Fan Whine - While they're, it's not annoying and loud enough to bother me. I watched several movies for 4-6hours while skipping around countries and it was not noticeable enough to affect me. Considering the Mate Book X currently as the replacement since it's the same specs other then HD size but much cheaper.

Disappointed
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendMaybe my expectations were too high and I was in denial after reading some other bad reviews, but the XPS 13 seems to be quite glitchy, the touchpad isn't reliable, and issues continue to come and go for no apparent reason. For example, one day it suddenly disconnected from my wifi. All my other devices were fine. I had to reboot several times during that day to get connected again. That has happened occasionally, but not often, since then.
Brand response from YourDellTeam
Posted .Joan,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the glitches that you've been experiencing. If you'd like to re-calibrate your touch pad you can follow these steps: Some Notebooks and Tablets with Keyboards have added gesture features to the touch pad hardware and drivers. A few of these features are two or three finger scrolling, pinch zoom, circle zoom, rotate and swiping. These new features may be the reason for the erratic cursor movement since most are turned on by default. You can disable or modify the way the features work in the touch pad driver properties. Here are some tips to modify these settings:
1. In the Search box, type main.cpl.
2. Touch or click main.cpl in the list of programs.
3. Touch or click the Dell Touchpad tab.
4. Touch or click on the picture of the touchpad.
5. Touch or click Gestures (depending on your computer there may not be a Gestures option).
6. Change the options as preferred.
7. Touch or click Save.
8. Touch or click the X in the upper-right corner to close the Dell Touchpad Utility.
9. Touch or click OK on the Mouse Properties window.
10. If the touchpad still does not work after following the preceding steps, refer to Dell Knowledge Base article - http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2tqmS02.
If you are still experiencing connectivity issues we'd recommend the following:
1. Run the Network Troubleshooter.
a) Touch and hold or right-click the network icon (Available Networks or Network Icon, located in the lower right-hand corner).
b) Touch or click Troubleshoot problems and then follow the prompts.

Unbelievable
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI never realized how fast a PC could be. Boots up 20 times quicker than previous one. The solid state drive is incredible. Software installations are 10X faster. The new USB ports run w at least 5x faster. No more lengthy pauses. This computer is worth twice the price. Oh, I read reports of fan or other noise. Mine is TOTALLY silent, I ran a chess engine for hours with no noise. I’ll never buy anything but a similar computer again.

Great For Travel Lightweight Super Fast
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I needed a small Lap Top with all the features of my 17” Dell in a compact size. This was for an international trip for over two weeks covering four countries. It was a hard fined in Florida with 16GB and 1TB. I had to buy an open box which was only missing the instruction manual I was told. I wish it had a regular USB so I would not have to add an adapter to connect thumb drives. The mouse pad is a little sensitive but I am getting use to it. I am very happy with my purchase.
