Taking it a Raid at a time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My initial thoughts, when Destiny arrived a couple years back, was eh it's just going to be another online shooter with a hint of rpg elements and held off on this game until a few months ago. Game was on sale for $40 and I had a $35 in points so I was like what the heck, I'm only getting the game for $5. Boy was I missing out on this game! I mean I read all the review and how much people hated the game and said it was broken until the Taken King came out and fixed what Destiny should've been in the beginning. I'm glad I didn't let this game slip through my hands this time around. The is my most played game currently right now and I'm still playing it with the new expansion Rise of Iron currently. There is a lot of repetition in the game, but the overall enjoyment, the content, the community and just the gear you get is awesome. I spent maybe 20 minutes deciding which piece of armor looked cool on my guardian. The online community is awesome too. The only problem I have and it may not be an issue with others is the lack of people using a mic! I mean if you're doing something teamwork based, don't you need a mic to communicate. Enough of that, the game overall is awesome and the new expansion "Rise of the Iron" is fun and offers a lot!

What the game at launch should have been.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its been well documented now that lots of content was cut out of the original version of Destiny. This new content is what was cut. Its really good content. If the game had launched with this content, Destiny would not have the amount of people hating the game that it currently has. It has lots of story. It has characters with personality. Its a bigger game and leveling is much easier to understand and therefore accomplish. If you can pick up the complete edition for $40. You most likely be satisfied with what you get.

Well Done Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started with the FPS genre back in 1994 with Wolfenstein 3D. I haven't played much in the last 10 years though because I was getting bored with so much of the some old thing and the military FPS wasn't my interest. Destiny has brought me back to the gaming community. They have tried something incredibly difficult; merge the MMO and FPS genres into a unified experience. IMO they have done an excellent job. Whether you want to work through one of the several storylines, work on team play through quests, match up against other players in arena play, or just vent out the day's frustrations by making things go BOOM! then Destiny has you covered. It's probably the most fun I've had with a FPS since Quake II. The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are excellent. The servers have seemed reliable for the 6-8 weeks I've been playing. The developers have been good about fixing glitches. Because of the nature of the PvE and PvP styles, there's some "learn as you go," regarding game balance. However, looking at the (sometimes passionate) debates on the Bungie forums, I'd say they are doing pretty darn good. If you're new to the game and you need a strike team member to help on a mission, then my nickname is my xbone gamertag.

Steps in the right direction
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I did jump on the Destiny Bandwagon day one because I was needing a game to feed my addiction :P waiting for Dragon Age: Inquisition to come out. Game play was fun, acting terrible, storyline non existent, grinding factor through the roof. Through constant lag outs and crashed servers I exited the train just after Vault of Glass came out. I did enjoy the experience with friends when I was able to play. Decided to give it a second chance and preordered Taken King since it came with the other 2 pieces of DLC, still way over priced IMO but whatever, its giving me something to do until Fallout 4 wrecks my life with its awesomness. Voice acting and Story line have shown up and while I do feel like the grinding is a bit worse they have done a few things to make it easier. new subclasses are a blast and some of the new specials are exciting. way too easy to level up. went from 30-37 in maybe 2.5 hours. so when I hit 40 after maybe 4.5 hours I was a bit dumbfounded but fine, at least I still have my Light level to work up and I still can. so far no issues with the multiplayer/fireteam aside from an occasional lagout from a team member, perhaps its my 40mb/5mb that are keeping me afloat? who even knows. good game, complete for those who didnt pick it up originally. definitely has the Halo feel to it and is definitely better with friends.

What once was lost now is found!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a day one Destiny player, played the heck out of it for 2 months straight and then became very frustrated and pretty bored so I sold it and said id never look back. Well after not being able to avoid the hype and keeping track of what they have been doing with destiny I figured gamers club unlocked price of 48 pretax for all 3 expansions and the game again was an ok price point to give it another go, and boy am I glad I did! The game is more addicting then it was at first, and though not as close to as big as the taken king, the other 2 expansions add some nice depth to the game. Add in some fine tuning, new weapons, quests, locations etc. and a rebalancing of the leveling system and you have a winner on your hands! Its a boat load of fun and I suggest highly you give it a try!

Fun and boring.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shooting mechanics and character design are fantastic, the core story pretty flat. The grinding got boring real fast because of that lack of core story. Additional content/expansions added after the core game released made a HUGE difference in extending the life of this game and re-playability. At this point in the game's life it is where it should have been at the first expansion. Great game as it stands today, but beware of grinding grinding grinding for stuff you want, and even grinding for weeks don't guarantee drops. Hopefully Destiny 2 will be a full game at launch and improve on the already solid core mechanics.

It's alright.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Positives: * Graphics are great looking. * Nice game feel. If you've played Halo before, it's very familiar. * Easy to play with friends. Negatives: * Story and lore feel tacked on. * Longish loading times between missions. * Most fights feel the same. I can give it a tentative recommendation, but only if you have friends who will play with you on a regular basis. Otherwise, you're better off just picking up a shooter like Halo 5.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
