Super-Fast Scanner!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the brown box it comes in may be a bit unassuming, this high-speed scanner is no joke! I remember when they finally added auto document feeders to flatbed scanners and I thought that was a great time saver. Well, my expectations have just been reset. This scanner screams through documents. I put a stack of 25 pages in the feeder, some had previously been stapled, some had been folded in half and some had printing on both sides, the ES-865 flew through the entire stack in less than 30 seconds with no feed issues and very good image quality on both front and back of the page. It really does bring a smile to your face knowing you can get scan huge piles of documents in just minutes. The default image quality (200dpi) on high speed is certainly good enough for any document archiving, but you can choose a lower speed with higher quality should you need it all the way up to 1200dpi. The Epson ScanSmart software is fast and easy to use, it lets you control most of the settings for the scanner and helps get your work done quickly. The only thing I would change would be to make the screen on the scanner a bit larger as it makes it a bit difficult to go through the on-screen settings, but as most of this can be controlled by the software anyway it is not a big issue at all. Overall, this is a fantastic document scanner (receipts and photos too!) and I am truly impressed with the quality and speed it delivers and would recommend this to anyone that needs to do significant amounts of document scanning or archiving. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I love this scanner!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I received and opened the box, I was surprised at how light and small it is. This is great since you are able to move it around, if needed, and it does not take up a lot of space on your desk. Taking it out of the box was easy, especially since it is so light. I don’t mean light as in flimsy, I mean that in weight, and it does feel quite durable. The quick start guide was great! It was so simple and walked me through the steps of setting it up. The setup was fairly quick, the only thing that took a while, I would say about 20 minutes or so, was downloading the software. I then went on to test it out. Boy, this thing is quick! I was so surprised. I have never used a scanner that was this fast. The page shoots right out in about a second and your scanned page is immediately on your screen. I then went on to try a double sided document. I was thinking I would need to turn it over, making sure it was the correct way so it didn’t end up upside down on the screen (a common problem I have had with other scanners in the past), but to my surprise, I looked up on the screen an both sides we already done in one scan! In order to try something besides a regular sheet of paper, I took out an old box of photos that I do not have any digital copies of. I adjusted the paper tray to the size of the photo and clicked the button. It scanned perfectly and also scans the other side of the photo. I saw on the computer screen that you can turn this option off, but I decided to keep it on, since most of my photos have names and dates and other important information on the back. How neat that you have the option to do this and can save all your important photo information. I plan on doing more old photos so that I can share online with friends and family, and also have plans to save a lot of digital copies of documents so that I can clear some clutter. I can’t wait to use it some more. It is also simple enough that my 9-year-old daughter can use it, and she is enjoying helping me with the photos. Awesome little scanner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was quite surprised when I opened the box and found this very small form factor Epson ES-865 scanner and rightfully so since having a scanner that doesn't take up a ton of desk space is really awesome. Once opened it came with everything needed to get started quickly. In the box were the scanner, power block, printer cable, and quick start guide. It took me about five minutes to set up and start the software install. Once the software was installed I tested the scanner and it's so quick that if you are not looking you will miss the quickness in which is scans. Once I scanned I checked out the quality of the scans and I will say it is superb in capturing the document in the true form right out the box at 200 DPI. You can of course change your DPI and other settings in the app to get better quality of scans to your liking but I was happy with the standard settings. The application itself is good but the issue is that there are two different scanning apps under the Epson folder for this device, Scan Smart for when you hit the scan button on the scanner, and Scan 2 from the OS for scanning. I find that Scan 2 gives you more option before scanning to choose what your scanning. Other than that they are easy to use and not to complicated. Would I recommend this scanner to people? Yes, I would since this is the fastest, and smallest scanner I have used in a long time for home use, and the ease of use and quality makes it a great option for people who scan a lot or for a home-based business. I have seen smaller scanners with clients in the IT field but are usually not this fast or the image quality is ok at best. Powerful and Compact
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would definitely say that this workforce scanner is amazing it is super fast and very effective and efficient. What I really like about it was from the beginning I thought it was very easy to set up and followed the directions. It worked right away without having to research or do anything other than just set up. I also like the fact that the size is perfect for my small Home Office. It's very compact but powerful exactly what I needed for working from home. I definitely feel like it's very simple to use and gets the job done with little effort. One of the really cool things about it is that it's able to do double sided in a single pass meaning that you can scan both sides easily and also very quickly. But I also think it's great for saving documents to my computer or scanning things into my computer to save for later. It also works really well with word which is super convenient since I use word documents and word files all the time period I would definitely recommend for a few reasons one being the size it's super compacts great for small spaces plus it integrates really well with technology and is super fast at getting the job done. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Dual sided color!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am beyond pleased with using this Epson workforce color duplex document scanner. Unpacking and set up was very easy, the scanner itself is actually surprisingly light weight with small, non bulky cords. The given instructions made downloading the software very simple and installation was quick. Setting controls with the full color LCD screen makes scanning documents simple and worry free. I absolutely love how it scans both sides at the same time, saving time and giving beautiful results. The color from document to scan is just as vibrant and and full of pixels, leaving your saved files easy to manage, edit, save, and or send to others. I have been using this Epson scanner to scan my homeschool worksheets, art work, and documents for schooling at the end of each learning period (monthly). This makes keeping track of each years school work and progress, so much easier and less pile up of paperwork. I would highly recommend this product, great quality with fantastic results for both home and office use. Excellent Business & Home Office Scanner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very versatile and very fast document scanner, perfect for the small business or home office. It is compact, well-constructed, and performs very well. Setup is very easy, unboxing only takes a few minutes. Simply attach the feed tray and remove the shipping tape that prevents pieces from moving and potentially being damaged in shipping. The scanner is packaged securely and there were clear instructions for unboxing and setup as soon as you open the box. Loading the software is also very easy, the download and installation completed without any issues on my Windows 10 laptop. Once installed, connect the scanner's USB cable and power it up, and you're ready to scan. The scanner itself is excellent. I was skeptical that it could perform as advertised in such a small device -- but I was pleasantly surprised. This scanner is amazingly FAST and produces very high-quality scans for documents with text, images, and mixed content in both color and black & white. I have passed nearly 1000 sheets through the scanner in a short week of ownership and it has not jammed or misfed a single time, nor have I had any issues with misaligned pages, which is not uncommon for auto-feed scanners. It scans single and double-sided (duplex) at blazing speeds and accuracy. The input tray holds between 50 and 100 sheets of standard paper, depending on the paper weight. Two software utilities are included, Scan 2 and ScanSmart. The Scan 2 is more of a basic scan utility that allows you to select a variety of settings on the scanner. The ScanSmart software is a bit more user-friendly and is great for larger scanning jobs and for saving scans to Word format with OCR. My initial reaction was that I was disappointed that the scanner did not support WiFi. At this price point, it seems like that should be a given. However, after doing some research and thinking about it, I believe that the reason that WiFi is not supported is simple: WiFi speeds are not fast enough to keep up with how fast this scanner can scan pages. USB 3.0 provides 5 Gbit/s bandwidth, and the vast majority of WiFi routers and laptops out there supporting 802.11ac are going to max out at less than 1 Gbit/s at best. If you look at the competing scanners that do include WiFi, their scan speeds are nowhere near as fast as this scanner. It was a necessary trade-off. It might have been nice to include WiFi with the caveat that scan speeds would be drastically reduced, so that for occasions when we don't need the ultimate speed we can have the convenience of WiFi, but I'm sure that would have resulted in a lot of people calling customer support and posting bad reviews if they didn't understand the limitations of using the scanner over WiFi. So for that, I totally understand why they chose to not include WiFi on this scanner. Overall I am very impressed with this scanner, it is perfect for my home office business uses. Fast Scanner but lacks Wireless Scanning Ability
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My initial impression of this scanner is that it is built really well. The scanner itself weighs a few pounds and feels built pretty solid. Setting up the scan is fairly easy. The physical part of setting up the scanner is really easy. The difficult part is the downloading and installing the drivers onto my computer. I am using a PC with Windows 10. My first attempt in installing the driver caused my whole computer to freeze so I had to do a force restart. When my computer restarted, I was able to reinstall the driver which this time it worked with no problems. This is one of the reasons why I give this product only 4 stars out of 5 stars. The scanner software is very easy to use once installed. You add your document to your scanner and you can initiate the scanning from your computer which is really nice or you can initiate it from the actual scanner. For the price point, I am very surprised that this scanner does not have the ability to do wireless scanning. This scanner does not have the ability to be wireless and can not connect to your wifi which really sucks because either I have to have the scanner on my desk by my computer or I have to have a really long usb cable for the scanner. A positive and cool thing about this scanner is that it scans super quick and I am super impressed with its ability to scan both sides of a document at once and can do it very quickly. If you have a ton of documents to scan, this scanner will make your life so much easier. You can also scan all sizes of papers from regular sheets or paper to receipts. It is so easy to use once it is set up. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Helps keep me organized!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really impressed with the quality and speed that this scanner provides. It scans both sides of the documents with a single pass, it saves time not having to scan them individually. This is very easy to set up and use, the driver that is included with this allows it to work smoothly with any software. The size of the scanner is great, perfect size to move around to wherever it's needed! I love that I am able to upgrade to the accounting edition. I am very unorganized, so the upgrade helps me keep all my important receipts, papers, and even pictures organized and easily accessible. Now that I have used this scanner, I don't know how I managed without it!
