A: It is not a refrigerated compartment, it melts. It does make a lot of ice so it builds up quickly, I don't recommend this machine.

Q: Did anybody else receive a 2009 model ice maker when they bought this new?
A: YES. I HAVE 3 OF THOSE ICEMAKERS PURCHASED IN EARLY 2009 WITH A MANUFACTURED DATE OF 2008. THAT 2016 RESPONSE IS NOT ACCURATE.
