Major Motoko Still Rules!

Entertaining - Isn't that the point.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not going to bore you with plot holes, theories, fanboy BS, or other related detailed stuff. If you want that go to the ANIME site. Bottom line: It a great looking addition to the franchise. In the tradition of GITS, it make you think and sucks you in a great story. If you know the characters they are a little different yeah but not unrecognizable. In fact I'd say they are a bit more raw or maybe green is the better word. The relationship and trust builds as the story goes on. The Major is a bit less cheeky then we are used to in say laughing man of SAC but this feels almost like a reboot.FYI, yes I know it is a reboot but while I like the voice actors, once you are used to the others its quite evidence who has changed but for the diehard fans...I'll you figure that out. Finally, if you're taking this much time to read this you know you want it so get it already!

The Finale to Arise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Follow-up review for previous 1&2, and 3&4; this will be much the same - they all should be in one package, but unfortunately they are not. I highly recommend before viewing the "New Movie," the rest of this series. Borders 1&2, Borders 3&4, and then the "New Movie" which is more or less "Borders 5" for a total of 5 episodes. The last installment ties everything together - and in total makes sense of everything that happened previously. For the curious, Arise (1 through 4 + New Movie) is a complete-sort-of prequel to the hit Anime series Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex; which is based on themes and characters presented in the original GiTS manga and later film. It features a much younger Major Kusanagi; within a younger appearing prosthetic body (simulating for her, and the audience, a feeling of "age" or what might call it for a Cyborg). It deals with many themes of "self" and identity throughout this mini-series, if a human were to become a cyborg could they still trust their own pysche if it were to be hacked. A larger mystery and story unfolds throughout as well with the Major the tip of the spear. And of course it's done within a layer of Cyberpunk with an excellent OST. The packaging comes within a box - two films per dual border set. While it doesn't add truly anything groundbreaking for GiTS in particular, it IS a decent entry for Sci-Fi Anime at the very least. If you're fan, its worth collecting.

A worthy reboot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ghost in the Shell franchise has been a mainstay of the anime/Otaku world for many years. In keeping with modern trends, this series has been rebooted to refresh the ideas and imagery for a modern generation. This film is the culmination of the Ghost in the Shell "Arise" series, so it is recommended you watch those videos before seeing "The New Movie." The "Arise" series serves as a kind of prequel series to the original films, in that it depicts the primary characters, The Major, Batou, and the rest of Section 9, being united for the first time. While this is true, it does not exist within the larger GITS universe of the original films. It is both prequel, and reboot, and is quite effective.

If you love GTS, then ....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love following Motoko & Batou et al and their exploits and adventures, then you'll find "GTS: TNM," a worthy companion piece in the series. Once again, cyber-masterminds beware of her formidable prowess at solving and defeating any of your nefarious plots and villainy. Why not check her out in, finally, another full length movie!

New Ghost in the Shell
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Ghost in the shell movie is a reboot of the classic cyberpunk anime and a continuation of the ova ghost in the shell arise being a fan of the original I was intrigue with the story and the action of this film that did not disappoint. It is loaded with philosophical ideas about the soul and cyberization, kusaragi was always one of my favorite anime heroines and this movie does her justice if you want to add a good cyberpunk anime to your collection I recommend getting ghost in the shell the new movie

An excellent unanticipated prequel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ever wonder how a team of well oiled professionals come together to form something truly magnificent. When I saw this on display I picked it up immediately as an avid fan of Shirow Masamune's works, and though a little off put by the other recent additions to the series, I found this addition remarkably superior in both storytelling and plot development. Definitely a must have for the Ghost in the Shell fan.

Great Story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hard to enjoy fully the first time. There are so many links to the story that are hard to catch till your second time around. So much deeper than the first 2 movies. It's the type to age better with time. As for the Bluray+DVD+Digital Version it doesn't seem like there is any über special content that I'd pay more for even even being a big GITS fan from the beginning. Just the extra DVD works to share with friends.
