A: Buy directly from GoPro, not only is it $50 cheaper at $349.98, but you also get (1) an extra battery, (2) a 64GB SD card, and (3) a 1-yr subscription to GoPro. Waaaay better value there.
A: When shooting in 5K and using a 128GB SD card, you should get about 4 hours and 12 minutes of recording time on that card. For the other cards, you can multiply that time based on the size of the card you're using. For the sizes you've listed, for example, you should get about 8 hours and 24 minutes on a 256GB card and 16 hours and 48 minutes on a 512GB card. Sandisk and Samsung cards are on our list of recommended cards, but there are different models within each of these brands, so you will want to check with GoPro's list of recommended cards to make sure the card you're using is recommended.
Q: Why do you need a subscription for a GoPro hero 9
A: No, a subscription is not needed to use the HERO9 Black. A subscription will offer some benefits to your experience with the GoPro like the cloud storage, premium editing tools on the new Quik app, discounts, and camera replacements, but you can use the functions of the HERO9 Black fully with or without a subscription.
A: No. I asked for “price match” and they say they don’t do it because it’s part of a subscription for members of GoPro. Sorry. I wanted to buy it from them as well.
Q: How long does the battery last?
A: 2 hour + 10 minutes
A: The batteries for the HERO9 Black are unique to that model, so batteries from previous GoPro cameras will not work with the HERO9 Black. Likewise, because the HERO9 Black is a different shape and size than previous models, accessories like dive housings that enclose the camera will not work between the models. However, nearly all other accessories, including most mounts and the USB-C charging cable, will work with both the HERO5 and the HERO9.
A: No special case is needed unless you plan to take the GoPro deeper than 33 feet. If you are using the GoPro in salt water, it's always a good idea to rinse it off with fresh water after use.
Q: Can I use the go pro 9 in the ocean or just fresh water?
A: You can use GoPro cameras in either fresh or salt water. If you do use it in salt water though, because salt water can be corrosive, it's always a good idea to rinse the camera and other gear down with fresh water after use.
