A: Tap water is fine but it will build residue overtime. Just keep it clean on the inside.Unplug it remove the filter and you will have full access to the inner parts. And remember to dry it at the end of the season before you store it away. I run mine all year as it keep my office more comfortable as it add some humidity to a working space that usually run with 18/20% average( modern glass building with no window opening option).

A: Hi Cindy, Evaporative Air Coolers are not rated by BTUs like Portable Air Conditioners. This unit has 150 CFM airflow and up to 100 square foot cooling capacity. Air Coolers use the natural process of evaporation to cool down air versus air conditioning which requires a compressor and cooling refrigerant. They are more comparable to a fan, and should not be expected to cool like an AC. Air Coolers also work best in dry climates with humidity that is below 50-60%, and it is required that windows be open for cross-ventilation so that the warm and cool air can circulate. Feel free to send us an email at [email protected] if you have any additional questions.
Q: Would this be safe to use in a tent? Only be used about 8 hours a night
