Very interesting! Great bargain at $10 price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only watched the first segment of this miniseries so far, but I can already tell that it is well worth my time and money (at least at the $10 discount price I paid). It presents both sides of each issue fairly--the side we want to hear, and the side that perhaps we don't. Excellent! In later segments, I will be very interested to watch the conflict between Adams and Jefferson over interpretation of the Constitution (within 11 years of its writing!). I will also want to see whether this miniseries presents, explicitly or implicitly, John Adams' stated attitude toward our form of government: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

excellent history
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is a retelling of the life of our 2nd President, John Adams. there has been a lot of myth building about our founding fathers as well as a lot of people pretending to speak about what their wishes are or would be in the 21 Century. This program wipes away much of what is thought about John Adams, and lays the proper foundation of who he was and where he stood politically. It also lays a foundation that will allow the viewers to understand how and why our political party system started, and the basic beliefs of those political parties. I, for one, would like to see more 'movies'/documentaries of this type as it was interesting to watch, plus informative and truthful.

A Good Miniseries & High-Quality Video
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Content: Enjoyable most of the time, a bit intense at other times, but overall a worthwhile purchase Quality: This is a very high quality Blu-Ray set! Some Blu-Rays are great and some unfortunately hardly look better than their DVD counterparts, but this one is fantastic!

Wonderful Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been waiting for a while to see this, felt the price was too high, then out of the blue it dropped like a rock, and I had to buy it, and I am not dissapointed, it would have been worth it at the higher price. I love these History type movies, especially the ones like this that are as close to what happened as we can know. This time period is awesome and I wish they would have had these when I was in school but heck, they didn't even have VHS at that time so at least I can enjoy these now...!

Excellent movie for history buffs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent adaptation of David McCullough's biography of our 2nd President. Showcases the actions that sparked the birth of our nation, creation of the Declaration of Independenc, diplomatic, as well as family triumphs and failures. Acting, set design, script, and costumes help establish the time and place; makes you feel as though you are eavesdropping on famous people like Ben Franklin, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, John & Abigail Adams, etc.

Epic historical saga!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney are fantastic as John and Abigail Adams in the moving biopic miniseries by HBO. Based on David McCullough's acclaimed biography, this miniseries follows John Adams' life in the years prior to the American Revolution through the war, its aftermath, his term as President, and his commentary-filled retirement. It has a wonderful production on a grand scale, with first-rate acting, believable period dialogue, and amazing set production. Highly recommended for all Americans and family-friendly. Truly superb!

Binge worthy!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."John Adams" is recommended, binge-worthy viewing for the entire family for those hot summer vacation days. Get to know a founder (or 10), get an enthusiasm for history, maybe tie-in a family trip to something other than an amusement park... who knows? By the way, they made a book out of this thing (haha - the author, David McCullough, is a first-rate historian and storyteller - he and his body of work are national treasures).

American History Done Right!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."John Adams" by HBO is a well acted, beautifully photographed, well written film about the roots of the American Revolution. The post production awards received by this film and cast are a testament to its quality. Many of the interior scenes were shot in buildings in Colonial Williamsburg, VA (fun for frequent visitors to identify individual locations). The ultimate tribute goes to the author of the book - the always splendid David McCullough.
