Stephen Chow is Back!!!! well sorta
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stephen Chow is back with another take on The Journey to The West folk story, famously making the Chinese Odyssey films based on the same legend. Here is more slap stick, and by way of Looney Tunes, that American audiences have been used to from Chow since Shaolin Soccer, and Kung Fu Hustle. Great film, great fun, great action, would've been even greater, had chow starred. But nevertheless a fantastic piece from one of the worlds greatest filmmakers.

Good movie if you like Chinese folk stories
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this movie because I am a huge fan of Stephen chow. Although the movie is not as funny or silly as his other movies, keep in mind that stephen chow does not appear, this was still a funny flick. The action was good and the story was fast paced. I never felt bored. But if you are a fan of the original stories, this is a re imagining and is a prequel to the old folk stories. Some new characters are introduced and the ending is very sad.

Offbeat and lots of fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Stephen Chow's movies going back to Kung Fu Hustle and this is just as entertaining with offbeat humor, characters, and a plot that is not predictable throughout. A highly enjoyable movie that I will be watching again and again.

Journey to the West like you've never seen it befo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of those really tough films to review. As a longtime fan of The Journey to the West story, I felt this film was very jarring and odd. Alot of little things kept popping up because of my preconceptions that really marred this experience for me. I think someone who is completely unfamiliar with the story may like it better. With that said, it's still a rather weird and quirky story but that's to be expected of a Stephen Chow movie. The acting is decent but the story felt oftentimes very cheesy. The love story felt very forced as well.
