Nuk Soo Kow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was it cheesy...yep Was the acting horrible...yep Was the story/script even more ridiculous...yep Was it as good as the first one...nope, not even close Did I enjoy it...lol, yep Would I recommend it... If ur a JCVD/Bautista fan...absolutely!!! Really into martial arts...Maybe Don't like fight movies, bad acting, horrible scripts, or cheesy remakes not doing justice to original then...nope, ur gonna hate it! Is it a 5-star move....absolutely not! Why 5-stars.... I was a huge Van Damme fan back in the day & was curious yet skeptical of a remake so went into it expected the worst. That said n watching it for what it is, I very much enjoyed it... & added it to the JCVD collection. Almost not 5stars because they made the bad guy not so bad n the good guy not so good. I found myself not rooting for the "good" guy, Tong Po is supposed to be a ruthless killer with no morals or remorse yet they just made him a really good fighter in a sport that sometimes has bad outcomes. He's actually the one with a fighters ethics or code by giving the "good guy" time to train to be a worthy opponent rather than try and kill him in cold blood. We need to hate the bad guy in a vengence movie as we did with the first one. I could continue to pick at the crappy script and storyline but in the end its about the fighting n I felt they did deliver.

A darker and colder take
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you went to this movie knowing this was a Kickboxer reboot with JCVD, you should buy this. If you didn't know, then, read this review and decide for yourself. I grew up in the 80s watching JCVD, Stallone, Segal, etc. I hate the term reboot. Even the sound makes me cringe to think how Hollywood butchered another classic. In the 80s, we knew what a movie should be, action movies were all about action, martial arts/martial arts, etc. Acting expectations went with the style of the movie. ...which brings us to Kickboxer Vengeance. We have a fighting movie about fighters in a brutal competition. We have an exotic setting that fits the story, with culture everywhere. JCVD delivers a commendable role as Master Durand. He focuses on training in unconventional, but effective ways to develop strength, dexterity, and endurance. He delivers a serious but warm character, which is pleasantly fitting. Bautista delivers a cold, brutal Tong Po. He speaks little, and when he does, you wonder who is next. Rather than teaching, he observes his students brutalizing each other. Training is a competition for survival with any failure leading to death. It is primitive, but fits the perfect mark of an adversary. Bautista executes this flawlessly. So, is the acting good...not really, but you did not come here for the acting. You came here for a little old school JCVD goodness, and while I would have wanted to see a bigger role for our man, you are definitely getting what you wanted.

GOOD MOVIE,NOT AS GOOD AS ORIGINAL
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This move was good but not great. The original Kick-boxer was a far better story even though this was a remake, the original seemed to have a far better story line The changing of the characters seemed to take away from the movie. The fight scens were good and the acting was ok but like they say there is nothing better than the original.

Action with a Kick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many fighting and other action scenes in this hard to believe storyline, but I did not buy this movie for it's plot. It delivers great fighting scenes and what I think is a very good continuation of the brand. If you like this type of movie , I recommend it.

Decent enough
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being a huge fan of the original, I was hoping for the best from this. Did it deliver? Sort of. The upside is that Van Damme returns. This time, as the mentor. He's a lot of fun to watch and he's still in great shape. However, a lot of his dialogue is dubbed over by somebody doing a terrible impression. Don't understand why this wasn't fixed before it was released. The fights are good and the movie looks pretty polished for a low budget flick. The lead actor is weak as is St. Pierre but we are here to see fights and they're pretty good. Worth a watch if you're in the mood for some beat em up action.

Nice
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good action flick, and while the jacket shows JCVD prominently, he is not a major player. Alan Moussi is the star, and does a very good job. And Dave Bautista plays a great villain. Action is decent, and well done.

Yes! Everything I wanted and more!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Listen, I have every JCVD movie and all 5 of the Kickboxer collection. To say my expectations were high going into this would be an understatement. However, I was blown away. Story is similar but different. There's great humor in it and amazing fight and training sequences. Batista is great as Tong Po. It's so over the top, the whole thing just blew my mind. You have to see the end credits. Just great. Only bad thing is that I guess they didn't want to pay JCVD to come back and do overdubs so you get this weird over dub on him from time to time but it actually makes the movie even better. A+
