A: There's an oval burner beneath the griddle. Not big enough for a 10" tortilla, but big enough to flat top a couple of burgers at one time or to make grilled cheese on. No need to remove grates when using the griddle - just take off the griddle.

The center burner is the long spreader and not the circular smaller burner.
