These "old dogs" deliver the goods, and new tricks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hard to believe, but 311 have been at it for nearly 30 years, and with this exact lineup since 1991. Despite early criticism that all of the band's songs sounded alike, they have honed their unique fusion over the years so that no two albums are the same. While a few albums (311 and Universal Pulse come to mind) seen to have a uniform style throughout, I believe the band's strongest work tends to be the ones that are every bit as eclectic as their influences. The Omaha-reared, LA-based veterans' latest is maybe their most musically diverse since their 1997 masterwork, Transistor. Some of the band's most mellow (Island Sun), intense (Too Late), and uncharacteristic (the tracks produced by first-time collaborator John Feldmann) can all be found here. This album is unusual for the band as it's the first time they have worked with songwriters outside of the band. It makes for a unique experience, and shows that these stalwarts still have tricks up their sleeves. Rest assured, while 311 may have a couple of songs that may rise your eyebrows (Til The City's On Fire comes to mind), they have continued staying true to themselves and delivered one of their strongest releases to date.

311!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.311 is in my opinion the best band for the last almost 30 years! Always evolving, if you haven’t heard their music give it a listen. They have multiple styles within every album that there will be something you’ll enjoy! 311!

Return to form
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mosaic is by far the best sounding 311 release to date, very well produced and the guitars have an organic tone instead of the thin tin sound of earlier work. The songs are well written and arranged. Mosaic is easily the best album they've put out in years and in my opinion ever.

A mix of good and meh
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a staunch 311 fan since the mid 90s and when it comes to their later stuff, I usually enjoy it but there are some misses. Don't Tread On Me comes to mind and I'm not too crazy about some of the tracks on Uplifter. That being said I absolutely love pretty much everything else. Mosaic is a mix of those two feelings. The first half is okay if you like the laid-back-beach-feeling tracks and the last half (the smaller half) picks up the tempo a bit and rocks a bit more. Overall, it's growing on me, it's not their best but when a band is together for so long you can't expect them to create the same music that inspired them in their youth. The evolution is part of the fun.

311 Rocks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These guys are still at it. Great cd for sure. It sounds like a good 311 cd to have in the mix. Catchy and reminiscent of good 311 music. All the standard sounds that sound new.

Best 311 Album in recent years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great 311 album. Perfect for the summertime. A mix of the old and new 311 music. Surprised with some of the hard stuff they haven't been playing. Lots of potential hits too.
