So far solid laptop
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. My Pros: - RTX3060 (It has the lowest powered version (70w) but it still performs well enough with the CPU it's paired with.) I can play all my games at 1440P high settings and some older ones at 4k on an external monitor. - Good weight not too heavy - Hi-Fi audio DAC through the 3.5mm jack (If you have high-quality headphones plugged in they will sound good) - The display is very smooth with the 144hz refresh rate - The Backlit keyboard is bright and the red color helps at night time especially in a dark room. My Cons: - The Intel chip runs really hot if left alone with no adjustments ( I Saw it get into the 90c range too often) I recommend you use something like throttlestop to limit how high the clock speed goes in turbo mode this brought my temps down a bit. (70-80c range) - Seems to attract lots of fingerprints. - No Thunderbolt - No USB-C charging - Only 8GB of ram on a gaming laptop (For the best experience you will need to add an additional 8GB of ram. ) - The display is not very vibrant I think if this had at least an upper mid-range Ryzen CPU it would be an easy 5 stars from me even if the price had to go up $100. Also I'm not sure if the laptop headphone jack is bad on mine but my Sony headphones have a static hiss sound when plugged into this laptop. They've never had that in any of my other computers or devices.

Solid mid-level gaming laptop, with caveats
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Been using the laptop for a month now Pros: RTX 3060 (70w version) Brushed metal chassis Not a ton of bloatware SSD Solid 144hz monitor Backlit keyboard Cons: i5 is a bottleneck in games such as Cyberpunk Lid is a fingerprint magnet Default CPU temp runs hot Overall: Good solid laptop. 8gb is fine for me, but will one day upgrade to 16gb. 512gb SSD is a sweet spot. Default CPU and GPU (mostly CPU) temps run hot with default settings. First thing you should do is go into the Dragon center and set your fans to start up sooner. I set my fans to keep my temps around 70C CPU / 65C GPU when playing Cyberpunk, which maxes out CPU and ~70%GPU. Note this is the weakest 3060, with a 70W limit. However, for the price, you won't do any better. Would've loved a slightly better CPU for $100 more.

good minecrafter, strong little miner
||Posted .This ended up being a nice find. My kids are both getting to the age where we play video games together and they really enjoy the minecraft with raytracing and playing some of their other games on high quality machines. When they're not playing, these go in a rack with a couple 12v case fans keeping air circulating while they run T-rex ether mining software. 600 boost to the memory clock and turn on MSI's cooler boost turns and they stay around 65 degrees which is completely fine for me. The fans are full Dyson-mode loud in this mode but the rack is in an isolated spot with some sound proofing around them and a sort of chimney to take the warm air away. I could see purchasing a couple for dedicated mining, if you're an ether believer. 38.7 MH/s

Great Laptop - nice features
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I have't used this laptop for much yet. Seems to be solid, never crashes and battery life is ok. I will eventually use this as my main portable pc but for now it spends it's time paying for itself. I bought this model because it was the only laptop under $1000 that had a 3060 RTX graphics processor. It is paying for itself by mining crypto currency. It is always on performing this task until it earns the me back the purchase price plus tax. Though because it is laptop with inherent cooling challenges the hashrate is not that of a 3060 video card you would have in a desktop tower. It runs near 35 megahash which only makes about 4 dollars a day. So if it still works after 270 days I'll be a very happy camper. The "cooler boost" tech that runs the fans at a constant 6000rpm keeps the card relatively cool and can be selected through the Dragon Center program. I just hope the fans will last running at that speed 24/7. So far so good!

Great budget gaming laptop
||Posted .Got the laptop yesterday, The drivers and updates are a bit old but nothing you can take care of in less than 30 minutes. The keyboard feels great to work/game on. Extremely light for a gaming laptop and I love how its a bit discrete that it is a gaming laptop. I would however upgrade the RAM to 16 and add some more space, but for the price point it is understandable. Overall an amazing laptop. Would recommend to anyone looking for budget gaming.

Q: QuestionWhat's the TGP?
Asked by Montebanc.
- A:Answer I've been looking all over for this, and the best I could find is this notebook check article, which says it will probably 60-70 watt, which isn't great. I mean it has to be $400 cheaper for some reason. https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-new-MSI-GF65-Thin-will-rely-on-the-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3060-Max-Q-and-the-Core-i7-10750H.513804.0.html

Q: QuestionWhat RAM comes in the laptop? One stick of 8 gb or two sticks of 4 gb each? How many Hz is the RAM (2400, 2666, 2993, or 3200), and what is the name of RAM if I want to upgrade it?
Asked by Billy.
- A:Answer On Msi wibsite they say it is a -''8GB (8G*1) DDR4 3200MHz''-

Q: QuestionHow many RAM slots? Also how many M.2 2280 SSD slots?
Asked by JC.
- A:Answer MSI's specs page doesn't explicitly answer either question, although it's clear that there are at least two RAM slots (this model comes with one slot filled, and one slot empty). Based on info from other sites, it seems there is at least a second M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD slot. So based on that evidence, there's probably 2 slots for RAM and 2 slots for drives.

Q: QuestionDoes this have Red keyboard backlighting or are the keys actually RED .
Asked by ZODD.
- A:Answer According to MSI's specs page, the keyboard is a "Steel Series per-Key RGB with Anti-Ghost key+ silver lining." This seems to indicate that red is an optional color.

Q: QuestionIs the gpu in this version (3060 maxq) different from the 3060 laptop version? If yes, what's the performance difference between the maxq version and the non maxq mobile version?
Asked by Sri.
- A:Answer Nvidia did away with the "Q" in the 30 series. Manufacturers no longer have to list any specification on their 30 series cards. This means you have to manually look up the voltage/TGP for every single laptop. Its REALLY crappy. The only thing I could find on this is the notebookcheck article, which lists it at 70 watts which isn't great. Most of the more expensive models are around 110. https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-new-MSI-GF65-Thin-will-rely-on-the-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3060-Max-Q-and-the-Core-i7-10750H.513804.0.html
