Go Beyond, PLUS ULTRA!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This title was on my radar ever since it premiered, even further if we count the manga so when this got released I had to pick up immediately. First off this set contains all 13 episodes from season one on both Blu-ray & DVD. There's even an extra Blu-ray disc dedicated to special extra features all housed in your standard Blu-ray case with a cardboard slipcover. I've always enjoyed superhero stories so this series didn't disappoint. In a world full of amazing heroes a young boy named Izuku Midoriya strives to enter the top hero academy in hopes to one day become the greatest hero of all. These heroes all have quirks, a special ability that grants them amazing abilities, if you hope to become a great hero you definitely need one but the only problem is that Izuku is quirkless. His dream seems like it'll never come true until he crosses paths with the greatest hero of all, All Might. With a lot of courage and heart Izuku displays he has the heart of a true hero and because of this heroism All Might takes him on as his pupil. With his guidance All Might hopes to make Izuku's dream a reality. My Hero Academia is worth your time, it's a nice coming of age story that's fun and entertaining, with great characters who have all kinds of powers and I found it to be quite inspiring as well. If your a fan of heroes in general check this one out, happy to say there's a 2nd season airing now!

Shonen at it's finest
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If your considering this item, you're probably already familiar with the show. But just in case, here's a quick rundown. People have started being born with super powers called quirks. Many people choose to be super heroes, and some even become villains. The mightiest hero is named "all might". The main character goes by the nick name Deku, and dreams of being a hero him self. His dreams are crushed when he discovers that when everyone is beginning to develop their own quirks, he was one of the rare few born without. But as fate would have it, Deku comes across a way to obtain one of the most legendary quirks around, and persues his dream of going to the elite school for heroes in training "hero academia!" So he can one day become the greatest hero of them all! There's lots more to this story, but I won't spoil anything here. There are lots of great characters, tons of emotion, and every episode ends with a cliff hanger making you STARVE for the next episode. As of this writing, they are currently airing episodes of season 2 every week. So pick this up, TRY not to marathon this (I dare you), and start falling in love with season 2. This set includes blu-ray/DVD with a slip cover, and really nice art work all over. It's pretty standard packaging (which is a good thing).

Absolutely amazing series!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a recent anime series that will give you beautiful animation, solid world building, great characters, heartfelt and cohesive storylines, and well handled action and drama, My Hero Academia is definitely one to check out. I love just about every character in this series, so much that it was incredibly difficult to pick favorites, and even then I didn't manage to do so until partway into season 2. And while this series can deliver suspense, drama and even some gritty action, it never loses sight of its overall, uplifting theme of determining what makes someone a real hero. This series also absolutely draws inspiration from western comics, and fans who know their stuff will be able to pick out nods here and there to various and well known styles attached to the various comics eras. As a box set, this series also comes with some nice extras, including convention interviews, footage of the characters being drawn by series staff, "inside the episode" segments, and some fun introductions to the main set of Class 1-A hero characters, as well as the usual textless opening and closing sequences. Overall, a well worth it buy for the money!

Japan meets Comic book Superheroes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Izuku Midoriya is the odd man out in a world where nearly everyone posses a supernatural power called a "Quirk", yet despite his lack of powers, he dreams of becoming a hero like his idol, All Might. When a chance encounter brings him face to face with the eternally grinning "Symbol of Peace and Justice", Izuku's life takes an unexpected turn, setting down a path once thought unreachable to him. Joining him are a colorful classroom of students with their own powers and personalities, and together they will face a threat that may change the very foundation of their world.

Quirkey Anime Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What if the Justice League or the Avengers had gone to school to learn how to control their powers as teenagers? This Anime answers that with the story revolving around a hero and his protégé and what it means when one must pass the torch to the next generation. It is a well told and beautiful piece of Anime. And there are a couple of parts that I have to rewatch over and over, because it makes my heart sing.

This show is in my Top 5 Favorite Animes.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It really is THAT good! Don't be thrown off by the art style, which may seem targeted to a more juvenile audience. This series will appeal to ALL ages! I could go on about the plot, the characters, the setting...but all you need to know is that it's a typical "hero's journey" story that is VERY well written. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
