Question"No audio output device is installed". This is the error message I am getting. My laptop has no sound. How do I fix this?

- Answer I have the same problem, i bought the laptop last week and suddently no more sound, the sound problem occured after some recent updates! I tried to reinstall the audio driver from the hp website but nothing seems to work. Looks like a defective model. I'll return the laptop

QuestionSomeone asked if it plays DVDs, which is my question also. They got 2 answers, one Yes it does play DVDs and one NO it does not. Which answer is correct? It is not listed in the specs. Thanks.

- Answer In a sense they were both correct. Yes, it does recognize DVDs, but no it will not (by default) play DVD movies. Windows 10 does not have a built-in player that will play movies, but you can either buy a program that does so or you can use the free software VLC to play them. Just make sure to keep VLC up to date as there was a security issue with it not that long ago (albeit you had to download subtitle files to get caught by it from what I remember).

- Answer I like it. The price was right. I just got it about 2 weeks ago. The only thing I don't like about it so far is I feel I have to push the space bar with some force in order for it to register. Unless my hands are directly above the keyboard.

QuestionHow much would it cost to swap drive for a 500 gig drive? Can an individual make the swap? Does it have a type 3.0 USB port?

- Answer Thank you for reaching out. You could certainly do the swap yourself. I would hope that you are talking about swapping this 128 SSD for a 500GB SSD, if you put in a 500GB HDD you would have a very noticeable performance drop! This does have a USB 3.0 port.

- Answer Brooke, slowness can happen due to a number of issues: 1) Check network speed. Try a LAN line - always 2-3 times faster than wireless or check wireless speed from carrier. 2) Check temp files - need to get a good cleaner. Try Total PC Cleaner - a free app from Microsoft. Also try CCleaner from CNET. Also run Disk Clean from Microsoft. 3) Antivirus - sometimes too aggressive and can slow processing. Check Windows Defender settings? 4) Use CHROME and not EDGE - make sure cache size is large. 5) Limit # of open files and active programs. Minimize what you use simultaneously. 6) Run scan for malware and irritant objects. Use Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) from Microsoft.

- Answer This laptop is a great choice. I use my laptop for streaming movies and shows all the time and it's really fast. You can even stream movies/shows really fast and smooth while simultaneously doing college work split screen. Its pretty cool.

- Answer Office Starter was discontinued many years ago. Instead you use either Office 365, Office 2016 or the online free "lite" version of Microsoft Office.

- Answer The machine will work fine. The external drive will perform slower than the internal drive. The USB's on this machine seem to be somewhat sluggish.

- Answer The voltage relies completely on the power adapter which converts the supplied electricity to what the laptop requires. The power adapter would certainly be able to work with either 110 or 220v.
