This unit will certainly edit video as good as most any computer unless you are using many effects or layers. I've used the previous generation macbook pro for editing and the SSD makes everything go a lot faster. You will need to invest in an external drive to save off the footage and also a superdrive or similar to burn the DVDs I have a combination of regular 2 TB external hard drives and 250GB SSD drives using usb 3.0 and the results are great. The unit only comes with 2 USB 3.0 ports so you might need a USB 3.0 hub at some point. I use iMovie and Final Cut Pro X depending on the complexity of the edit.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have used this MacBook to capture video, and it works very well. It's much faster than my previous MacBook, although that one also worked well. I have not done any editing and burning to DVD with this latest model, but I had no problems with my 8-year-old MacBook, so I assume this one will work even better. To this point, I've just captured video from my DVR for archive purposes. One of these days I'll get around to making DVDs, but I have to buy the burner first.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would consider going with the quad core, but this machine has worked well for me for photoshop--and minimal video editing. Do keep in mind it doesn't have a cd-drive so you'll have to purchase that separately and connect via USB. I've run multiple programs and with my current RAM and Flash storage I've been fine. But like everyone will ask you how much video work are you doing? And it it worth the additional investment for the 15" quad, or the additional Flash Storage. Cheers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Decent processing power for video editing, but I would consider using a desktop for the editing. There is no DVD burner though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes I edit most of my videos on this laptop. I don't know about capturing video with the built-in webcam, but you can definitely edit with iMovie and even Final Cut pro. You can't burn a DVD with it unless you buy the external superdrive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say no as it has no dvd player/recorder
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no dvd drive, but you can use external otherwise good.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Photoshop is still your best bet for editing pictures but iMovie is very easy to use on Apple products.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recommend you get one of the i7 Macbook Pro 15". You will need the more advanced hardware they offer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am sure you could edit video without too much problem. The 15in with dedicated graphics card is a better choice if you do this full time. It was built for it. If its just a hobby and its not too complex, you might find it suitable. I have 15 in with dedicated graphics and I have no hang time or slow down but again its an I7 processor, turbo Boost to 3.7 GHZ and 16GB ram. You will need an external DVD drive as these obviously don't come with a DVD player.
