QuestionDoes this unit vent out the front, the back, or the top? I'd like to use it like a built-in microwave and venting out the front would be best. I don't have the recommended 8" above or on the sides.

- Answer The Breville Combi Wave 3 in 1 is not made for in-cabinet use. It does require a minimum clearance of 8 inches (20cm) between the microwave and any adjacent walls.

- Answer Yes, use the oven setting. Use the pan that comes with it, it’s specially made and I wouldn’t try using any other metal. You’ll love this machine‼️‼️

QuestionWhat is the max. temperature this oven can reach in "convection oven" mode? (Specifically, does it go to 450-degrees? ... 425-degrees?) And how long does it take to preheat to its max. temp?

QuestionI would really like a microwave that is also an air fryer, toaster, convection oven and grill. I can do away with all those appliances and just have the one on my bench. Are you likely to design this?

- Answer The Combi 3-in-1 is great, but it won't function well as a toaster; there isn't a heating element on the bottom owing to the microwave rotation plate. As a grill, it's possible, but you'd have to run it as an air fryer and elevate the food on top of a something that looks like a grill grate. In any case, indoor grills aren't great no matter what. So the Combi 3-in-1 is really a fantastic microwave/air fryer/convention oven. We keep a toaster oven along side it.

QuestionBeen using this appliance pretty regularly without issue. Tonight when airfrying fish, we noticed steam build up inside the glass of the door. It did dissipate after after a few minutes once the appliance was off. Is this an issue or leaky seal?

- Answer As noted in the manual, if steam accumulates inside or around the outside of the oven door, wipe with a soft dry cloth. This may occur when cooking foods high in moisture or if the microwave oven is operated under high humidity conditions, this is normal. Please make sure it has the required minimum distance 8 inches /20cm away from side walls and 8 inches from top, curtains and other heat or steam sensitive materials and provide adequate space above and on all sides for air circulation.

QuestionI want to use the air-fry function but when I press air fry-start the screen shows pre-heating and microwave. Why is the microwave running on air fry? I had aluminum inside and it sparked once and I shut it off. Microwave is not selected what's happening?

- Answer As indicated in the manual, you'll want to use the crisper pan that came with the unit for the Air Fry function. You'll also notice that there is an image in the manual that does indicate that the word "microwave" will show on the screen until the unit has preheated. This is normal.

QuestionTwo questions: 1. Comments says the glass plate should be removed when using the oven or convection oven. Is this correct? The manual doesn't say. 2, It says the grill can be used as a broiler. My grill doesn't turn hot/orange. Is this as expected?

- Answer Hello. The glass turntable should remain in the oven for all functions. It is completely safe and necessary for the best results. Because of the technology, the elements will not always burn brightly. This is normal.

QuestionI know it should not be placed inside a cabinet. I am only going to use the microwave to heat milk for 2.5 mins. Could I place it inside the cabinet? I already own the Breville Smart Oven Air with Super Convection which I have on top of my counter

- Answer I installed in RV cabinet, but had large cabinet spot 2’x2’ or so to put in, I put holes in bottom left corner (side) where hot air comes out, and venting around front. I was careful, it worked, but not sure I’d recommend. It pulls in air and puts out very hot air, consider carefully.

QuestionInterested in purchasing this item to replace a microwave. On possible location for placement has only 5 inches of head space and another potential position has only 4 inches on either side, but at least 8 behind and above. Is this safe?

- Answer The oven has a tendency to get warm when you use the air fryer, oven or combination features. I have my oven on a stainless steel shelf with 2.5 inches of clearance from the top, and 2 inches of clearance from the left wall. I have to note that the wall surfaces and the surface beneath my cabinets are stainless steel, so I personally have not had any issues.

QuestionIs the crisper plate non stick? Can any other stainless steel tray be used instead if the crisper?

- Answer Yes, the crisper pan for the Breville® BMO870 Combi Wave™ Microwave is non stick. It is not recommended that any other type of metal pan be used during the Microwave function, however heating with the Convection oven setting, others can be used so long as the manufacturer has rated them for use in a Toaster Oven.

- Answer We've got ours just plugged into a regular ol' outlet in the kitchen, no special power plug or nothing and we live in an apartment and we've used all 3 functions with no power issues at all.

QuestionDoes they smart oven air fry baskets fit the combi wave?

- Answer There is no place to mount those racks on the side. I also own the Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. Although they are both similar in size when next to each other, the interior space on the CombiWave is smaller. The 10" crisper pan does a good job while air frying, but you can only fit so much in it. It's better for preparing food for an individual and maybe not as practical when you are cooking for many.

QuestionCan you program the microwave for 11 or 14 or 23 seconds? Or only in 30 second increments? I like to put things in for 10 seconds sometimes or 17 or 33.

- Answer Very odd selections for time. Some screens allow you to adjust by 10 seconds while some only 5 and defrost power level fewer, but airfry mode only does whole minutes when setting it.

QuestionIs it possible to adjust the oven temperature calibration using the keypad, as is possible with other electric ovens? I've checked my unit with 2 different oven thermometers and it never reaches the set temperature.

- Answer There is no way to adjust any of the cooking features, including temperature using any keys. The dials are used to adjust time, power level, or temperature.

QuestionI have read so many reviews on the HORRIBLE manual this comes with. Instructions and recipes are lacking. I bought this machine (and it is not cheap!) and I agree with the awful manual and lack of recipes. BREVILLE, are you going to remedy this??

- Answer I disagree that the manual is awful. It’s basic. Breville offers a FREE microwave combi online recipe book and there are numerous things you can google. I use daily and it fits my needs. QuestionI reheated sausage links in the AM.. then when I went to use in the PM I noticed there was lots of condensation still on the inside door 8 hours later. Is this Normal?
