I only have small areas of carpet/rug so I couldn't say the exact time, however I've not experienced it "dying", yet. I vacuumed a nice area with carpet, 2 rugs & my car.

They have almost the exact same features but the Insignia actually feels more solid in your hand. The Insignia is also lighter, but the electrolux looks nicer. Battery lives are comparable.
