- Answer You can print on heat transfer paper, but the colors do not come out the same as your computer screen. Also, you have to use High or Best to get it to print without lines going through your designs. When you use this option, the colors are much darker or different than what you have designed. Also, my printer stopped working after only 2 months and I'm having a heck of time trying to get a replacement printer sent out to me by Epson. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.

QuestionWhat is the max paper weight (gsm) that the 8550 can handle in cassettes 1 and 2? I want to create postcards and greeting cards, but 80lb cover 216gsm isn't heavy or durable enough.

- Answer Hello glee. The heaviest paper we've tested with this machine is Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy, which weighs 79 lb. For cardstock, we've used similar Epson paper weighing approximately 44 lb. Please note that these recommendations apply to Epson paper only. You may try cardstock within this weight range from other brands, but results may vary, especially with heavier or non-Epson paper. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team

QuestionWhat is the minimum size I can print on this printer?

- Answer 3.5″ × 5" is the minimum size (smallest postcard size) that you can fit on the guides to be even for Cassette 1. Any smaller and the printer will have problems taking it, which if you need to print smaller, print on larger paper and trim down.

QuestionDoes the ink dry out in the nozzles with infrequent use as it does in printers with standard inkjet cartridges?

- Answer no it doesn't, that's the beauty of it, I've left mine unused for weeks, and when i use it, it prints just fine. HOWEVER be very mindful on how you gonna use it, the printer comes with dye ink, which is ok, if you're planning on using it for pictures and artwork, and care about quality, pigment ink is the way to go, DO NOT MIX THEM that can definitely clog the nozzles and you'll be in big troubles... so before buying, make sure to use it with only one type of ink wheter it is dye for normal prints,pigment for artwork, or sublimation ink for transfering onto shirts/etc...
