A:AnswerHi Eloise- Our Top-Load washers, including GE® 4.2 DOE Washer GTW460ASJWW, have stainless steel wash baskets. The matching dryers, including GTD42EASJWW/GTD42GASJWW, have Aluminized Alloy drums. Aluminized Alloy is a long-lasting finish that is more durable than paint finishes, but is a little more economical than stainless. Thanks for considering GE. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA

A:AnswerHi Needwater- Thanks for viewing our GE Washers! We suggest a model with PreciseFill (Auto Load Sensing). This features automatically senses the load and allows the washer to determine the optimum water required to wash the items in the basket. This model features PreciseFill with the option of 4 water level selections. Average water usage is approximately 29.4 gallons. Also, check out our GE® ENERGY STAR® 4.3 DOE Cu. Ft. Capacity Frontload Washer GFWN1600JWW. The average water usage is 13.76 gallons. Unlike the top loader, the front loader's wash basket is set horizontally, and uses gravity to pull water through clothes. And because the basket never has to fill completely with water, you end up using less water, but your clothes get just as clean. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerHi JF- Thanks for choosing our GE Model GTW460ASJWW! We suggest to check the condition of the hoses. GE Appliances recommends changing the hoses every 5 years. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerHello Jamjust,
We are happy to help. While HE detergent is not required, we recommend it because this type of detergent is highly effective. If HE detergent is not used, use less detergent than needed and choose the Deep Rinse option to provide a deep rinse. Thanks for checking with us! Lisa from GE Appliances.
A:AnswerHi 55andalive- Thanks for viewing our GE Top-Load Washers. We know longer offer washers with the filter-flo pan (lint pan) on top of the agitator. The drain system on the newer models allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system. Lint discharge from the washer should not cause a problem with septic tanks because most lint is produced from cotton fabrics which are biodegradable and septic tanks are designed to handle these fibers. Thanks for checking with us. Sue@GEA

A:AnswerWhether I do a small load or medium load and whether I run it on light or normal, the machine is done washing in 30 minutes or less. Much faster than my old top of the line front loading washer. The delicate setting is very fast which is great because any delicate article of clothing shouldn't be in water for a long time. This machine has freed up my days. I love it!
A:AnswerHi JR- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE® 4.2 DOE CU. FT. STAINLESS STEEL CAPACITY WASHER GTW460ASJWW! No, the washer will not agitate or spin with the lid up. You can view a short video of the dual-action agitator in motion at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerHi JR- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! The washer will not start
with lid open if Precise Fill is selected except on Bulky Items cycle. If the lid is closed, the lid will lock only during the load sensing portion of the cycle (when the Precise Fill selection is made) and during spin portions of the cycle. Lid will unlock after load sensing and spin. Also, the washer will not agitate with the lid open. The washer will not agitate until the water stops filling. You can view the operation of the dual-action agitator at this link:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - Also, check out the matching dryers: GE® 7.2 CU. FT. CAPACITY ALUMINIZED ALLOY DRUM ELECTRIC DRYER

A:AnswerYou can view the differences on http://products.geappliances.com and enter those models numbers. It looks like the difference are some options and the control type.
A:AnswerHi Dogmom- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your interest! Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Note: The HE label does not mean energy efficient. Only washers that have earned the ENERGY STAR rating are independently certified to save energy. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not. However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. Our GE® 3.8 DOE CU. FT. CAPACITY STAINLESS STEEL BASKET GTW330ASKWW does not have "HE" on the control panel (Matching dryers:GTD33EASKWW, GTD33GASKWW GAS). Thanks for checking with us!

A:AnswerHello Rooks - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are sorry to hear that your clothes are not rinsing and spinning. For safety purposes, please disconnect power to the washer prior to performing any type of maintenance. All rinses are performed in cold water. Please check that the cold water is supply turned on and that the hose screen is not clogged. If this does not help, please contact GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance. We hope this helps!
