• A:Answer The answer to this is VERY dependent on a number of factors. First off the GE unit will illuminate the clean unit indicator every 100 hours which may or MAY not be sufficient. All these nugget ice makers are a natural biofilm/mold haven and as such sanitizing every couple of weeks at a minimum should be performed. The spores that promote this are airborne, not water borne, so every time you open you the lid to get ice, they settle into the interior. I run ONLY distilled water and maintain a 1ppm of chlorine dioxide (FDA approved for human water sanitation purposes) to further offset the tendency. ClO2 has a strong anti-biofilm/mold behavior superior to plain chlorine or bleach.

• A:Answer During the day it gets used so often it’s making ice constantly (in my house). At night I do notice it melts and recirculates. But there is always at least 2-3 cups of ice ready.

• A:Answer Hi there! Thanks for reaching out to check on this. This icemaker is built to operate with or without a water filter. If you'd like to purchase a filter to filter the water you pour into the water reservoir, you can do that. The water filter does need to be replaced around every 6 months depending on the amount of use. If you don't want to filter the water, you can skip the installation of a water filter and the icemaker will work as designed. It just comes down to preference. • A:Answer The P4INSASBVTS does have a water reservoir. If the ice has detected a frozen auger and low ice production then the Defrosting Indicator will light up. The unit will run a rinse cycle to defrost the ice maker and then start making ice again. -Don@GEAppliances

The supplied powered cord must be plugged into a 3-prong grounded outlet protected by a 15-amp fuse or circuit breaker. Q: QuestionI have a ge opal 2.0 ice maker. The people at ge have tried to help. She thinks it is the pump. Where can I get this checked it is only 2 years old. I have cleaned it regularly every month. Now it won’t do the clean it just says add water

• A:Answer We recommend checking that the ice bin is pushed all the way in place and resetting the Ice Maker by unplugging the unit for 3 to 4 hours. If you are using a scale inhibiting filter, when it is past time to replace the filter, you may notice that your ice maker is no longer making ice. You may also notice the ADD WATER notification, even though you have water in the reservoir. If either of these things occurs, replace the scale inhibiting filter with a new filter. -- If the tips provided above do not resolve the issue, we suggest that you contact our Opal Support team for assistance.
