A:AnswerNewer units pop on the cleaning light on an hours-of-use schedule. I believe it is about a month for cleaning now. I've owned three of these now all the way back to the original Opal, and the eventual failure will be due to calcium build-up if you don't clean regularly. The aggressive cleaning messages and enhanced cleaning instructions (from previous models) is definitely there to help address that #1 failure mode.
A:AnswerBin full of ice - no refrigeration, but it is a bunch of ice in a bin that's tucked into the unit, so melts relatively slowly. The bin has drains right back into the reservoir below, so eventually the unit will sense the low ice and will kick back on and will start remaking the ice. You could just let it sit there making / melting / making / melting for days.

A:AnswerI just recently had this issue with "mush" ice. it turns out all it needed was a REALLY GOOD descaling from using hard water. It had started making this weird squealing noise and making the half melted ice. Once i read thru the manual and found out to properly descale it, i did. Except instead of letting it sit for 18 hours after running a cleaning cycle, i let it sit for 2 days, and the amount of scale that came out was gross. So, in my opinion, try that and see if it helps.
A:AnswerThe side tank we offer as an accessory is the 3/4 gallon - P4AAKASSPSS. The 1 gallon side tank is included with select model Opals and is not listed as a separate accessory. We encourage you to reach out to Opal Support at 1-866-907-6718 for additional assistance.
